  • Pink is more than a color in October. 🩷 Our team members around the world embraced pink this month to show their support for Breast Cancer Awareness. In addition to raising awareness through their clothing, our teams organized webinars and onsite events to educate others on the importance of screening for breast and prostate cancer. We’re proud to see our team members learning more about early detection and mobilizing to help spread the message! #WeArebioMérieux

This is an important step forward for women’s health, and a major milestone for bioMérieux: Our SPOTFIRE® Vaginitis Panel has received FDA clearance. This is the first rapid molecular test capable of identifying the main causes of vaginitis in about 20 minutes, at the doctor office. This matters because vaginitis is common, uncomfortable, sometimes painful, and too often misdiagnosed or incompletely characterized. For bioMérieux, this milestone also marks an important expansion of our point-of-care syndromic testing portfolio into women’s health, complementing the respiratory and sore throat panels that already exist. By delivering rapid, accurate, and actionable results where patients receive care, we aim to support timely treatment decisions that improve clinical management and ultimately support patient care. I take this opportunity to thank and congratulate bioMérieux team members for bringing to the market this amazing innovative test. #WeArebioMérieux

  • 📢 The BIOFIRE® SPOTFIRE® Vaginitis (VG) Panel has received Dual 510(k) Clearance and CLIA Waiver from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. This automated, multiplex PCR test can simultaneously detect the most common causes of vaginitis in about 20 minutes, directly at the point of care, enabling healthcare professionals to make treatment decisions during a patient visit. The Panel reports eight results with one swab, including bacterial vaginosis, yeast, and parasite pathogens. Most women will experience vaginitis in their lifetime, often with a range of painful symptoms. Despite its high prevalence, vaginitis is often misdiagnosed or incompletely characterized using traditional methods that are subjective or may lack sensitivity. Only about half of women diagnosed with vaginitis by non-molecular testing receive appropriate treatment. The BIOFIRE® SPOTFIRE® Vaginitis (VG) Panel is the first rapid molecular vaginitis test and aims to support timely treatment decisions and deliver a clear and accurate diagnostic experience, which is associated with overall improved patient management. 📰 Read the press release: http://spkl.io/60457kGzd

𝘌𝘕: 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗮 Last week, Alain Mérieux travelled to China alongside representatives of Institut Mérieux, Fondation Mérieux and our Group companies. The visit was an opportunity to meet healthcare leaders, academic institutions, partners and our local teams, while reaffirming a longstanding conviction: the major health challenges of our time can only be addressed through dialogue, scientific cooperation and long-term commitment. It also highlighted the strength of Institut Mérieux’s long-standing commitment to China. For decades, the Mérieux family, and Alain Mérieux in particular, has built close ties with the country around science, infectious disease prevention, medical education and international cooperation. Today, this commitment continues through the work of bioMérieux, Mérieux NutriSciences - Global and Fondation Mérieux, as well as through the remarkable engagement of our local teams. As healthcare challenges continue to evolve worldwide, the relationships we build across borders, institutions and disciplines remain essential.

When an outbreak occurs, early and accurate diagnosis can make the difference between isolated cases and wider transmission. That is especially important with the current #Ebola outbreak. While initial symptoms can be similar to those of malaria and other serious febrile illnesses, the implications for patient care and public health action are very different. The World Health Organization’s Emergency Use Listing of the BIOFIRE® Global Fever Special Pathogens Panel is therefore an important milestone. By simultaneously testing for 16 pathogens, including Bundibugyo ebolavirus, the panel can help healthcare professionals investigate suspected cases, act more quickly and make more informed use of available resources. This new milestone builds on bioMérieux’s mobilization alongside health authorities and local partners since the beginning of the outbreak, helping broaden access to timely differential diagnostics and better protect communities.

  • The World Health Organization (WHO) has granted Emergency Use Listing (EUL) for the BIOFIRE® Global Fever Special Pathogens Panel from BioFire Defense marking an important milestone in the response against the #Ebola epidemic. Since the beginning of the outbreak, bioMérieux has been working alongside national health authorities and local partners in Africa to assess diagnostic needs, strengthen laboratory capacity and expand access to differential diagnostic testing across affected and at-risk countries. The panel simultaneously tests for 16 pathogens, including Bundibugyo ebolavirus, supporting healthcare professionals to investigate suspected cases and differentiate Ebola from other causes of acute febrile illness. This listing marks a significant step in our ongoing public health mobilization. It can support broader access to differential diagnostic testing as health authorities, laboratory professionals and partners respond to the current outbreak and strengthen preparedness for future health threats. • 💬 "No test, no data. No data, no decisions. No decisions, no health security." That was one of the messages Alexandre Merieux conveyed at the World Health Summit in Berlin. #OneHealth asks us to look at human, animal and environmental health as interconnected. Diagnostics help make those connections visible. A test can guide a decision for one patient. At scale, diagnostic data can help detect emerging threats, track antimicrobial resistance, and turn surveillance into actionable intelligence. The opportunity now is to connect those insights more effectively across sectors and geographies and make quality diagnostics accessible wherever they are needed. 🎯 That ambition is at the heart of Global One Health Diagnostics Access Compact (GO-Dx), a global initiative launched last May to expand equitable access to quality diagnostics, strengthen stewardship, accelerate innovation and advance recognition of the value diagnostics bring to patients and health systems. Because better preparedness starts with knowing what is happening, where it is happening, and being able to act on it.

Didier Véron / Eric Ducournau / Claire Biot / Olivier Laureau / Audrey Duval, MD
