  • WCCO | CBS News Minnesota announced the debut of its 1,200-square-foot AR/VR news studio, with Chief meteorologist Chris Shaffer introducing the immersive technology during today’s 6 PM newscast. The launch marks a major milestone for CBS Stations, completing the rollout of AR/VR news studios across all 15 owned television stations. As a result, CBS Stations is now the only television station group in the country with AR/VR news studios throughout its portfolio. Designed to support local journalism through visual storytelling, the technology helps WCCO’s meteorologists, anchors and reporters bring greater context to weather events, explain complex news stories and make community issues easier to understand.   • Another successful press and influencer event for CBS Stations. Today, WBZ | CBS Boston welcomed local journalists, influencers and community leaders into its newsroom for an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience, featuring appearances from New England's most recognizable sports mascots, including New England Patriots Pat Patriot, Boston Celtics' Lucky the Leprechaun, New England Revolution's Slyde the Fox, Boston Red Sox's Wally the Green Monster, Boston Bruins' Blades the Bruin and the New England Patriots Cheerleaders. Attendees met station leadership and connected with WBZ-TV's award-winning news team, including Hall of Fame Sports Director and Anchor Steve Burton. Guests also experienced a live demonstration from Chief Meteorologist Eric Fisher, and Meteorologists Jacob Wycoff and Jason Mikell showcasing the station's innovative AR/VR technology and how it enhances storytelling for local audiences. The event offered a firsthand look at the journalism, innovation and community partnerships that distinguish WBZ-TV and strengthen its connection to the communities it serves.   • Today marks 25 years since the 9/11 attacks. It is a day that changed New York City and the nation forever. As we remember the thousands of lives lost, we also reflect on the resilience, recovery and rebuilding that followed. For CBS Stations' special coverage, Remembering 9/11: 25 Years Later, stations across our group are using AR/VR technology to help viewers better understand the transformation of the World Trade Center site to become a sign of resilience. The immersive explainer takes audiences through the redevelopment of the World Trade Center campus, building by building, showing how the site rose again and reshaped the New York City skyline. It is a powerful example of how innovation can strengthen journalism, helping audiences visualize history, understand progress and gain a deeper perspective on one of the most significant events in American history.
