𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗔𝗜 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽𝘀 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗳? That question is becoming very real for enterprise leaders. At our latest CDO Magazine Executive Boardroom Dinner in San Francisco, data, AI and technology leaders came together for a candid conversation about what happens as agentic AI moves from experimentation into the workflows that actually run organizations. The discussion moved from workflow automation and orchestration to some of the harder questions that emerge as AI systems gain more autonomy: → How do you decide what should remain human-led and what can be delegated to AI agents? → What does trust really require when AI is taking action, not simply generating an answer? → How do organizations keep agentic initiatives aligned with business priorities as both the technology and those priorities change? One idea from the evening captured just how foundational the work ahead may be. @Shadaab Kanwal put it simply: “𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱.” Before organizations can automate work intelligently, they first have to understand how that work actually happens. And the conversation around trust went well beyond accuracy. @Ozlem Peskoy Bishop challenged the room to think about intentionality, usefulness, meaning and bias, as well as the pathways being created, or potentially closed, as AI becomes embedded in more decisions. That is exactly why these conversations matter. There is no single playbook for agentic AI yet. Bringing leaders from different organizations and industries together gives the community a chance to compare what they are seeing, challenge assumptions and learn from one another while the playbook is still being written. Accurate data isn't always current enough for AI. As AI systems move beyond summarizing information to recommending or triggering actions, CDOs need to consider not only whether data is correct, but whether it is still safe to use for the decision at hand. In this contributed article for CDO Magazine, Hemang Upadhyay explores how data leaders can set freshness requirements based on business risk, establish controls for stale data, and use recurring freshness issues to help guide investment. 🔗 Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/er52B928 #DataGovernance #DataManagement #DataLeadership

In CDO Magazine’s new Trend Report, 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 + 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗜: 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲, research among 118 respondents found: 𝟲𝟱.𝟯% are already in early production or beyond. 𝟲𝟰.𝟰% report hitting a “transition wall.” And among organizations at production-plus maturity, 𝟴𝟰.𝟰% report at least one of the surveyed control gaps. So what separates experimentation from enterprise-ready AI? That’s a question the leaders featured in this report are working through firsthand. A special thank you to the executives who contributed their expertise and perspectives to this report: Karthikeyan Ilangovan, VP of Data, Analytics & AI/ML, MODE Global Justin H., Executive Advisor and Experienced Chief Data Officer Murali K., Head of Data & AI, Box Tiffany Perkins-Munn, Ph.D., Author, Data (De)coded Moataz M., SVP, Enterprise Data Management, First Citizens Bank Dhivya Nagasubramanian, VP of AI Transformation and Innovation Their contributions tackle some of the questions data and AI leaders are facing as they move these technologies into production: How do you operationalize GenAI beyond the pilot? Who owns the context layer? What changes in governance as AI moves from assistance to execution? What does “human-in-the-loop” oversight actually require? And how do you manage identity, access, and risk when the actor isn’t human? In addition to their thought leadership, we’d also like to thank Tuhin Chattopadhyay, Ph.D. Chattopadhyay for his analysis of the research findings and CDO Magazine Managing Director Anthony Losanno for his introduction to the report. We’re grateful to Turgon AI, the sponsor of this Trend Report, for supporting this important conversation and helping us bring original research and executive perspectives to the data and AI community. If you’re responsible for taking Generative or Agentic AI from experimentation to enterprise scale, this report is for you. 🔗 Download the full report → https://lnkd.in/gxjqy6Qz And we’d like to hear from you: What has been the biggest barrier to moving AI from pilot to production in your organization? #AgenticAI #GenerativeAI #AILeadership #DataLeadership #CDOMagazine

Accurate data isn't always trustworthy data. As AI systems draw from third-party sources, synthetic data, model-generated content, and increasingly complex transformations, CDOs need to know more than whether data is accurate. They need to know where it came from, how it changed, and whether it is appropriate for the decisions it supports. In this CDO Magazine article, Gopichand Mannava, explores why data provenance is becoming an important control for AI governance and outlines practical steps for managing it across the data lifecycle. 🔗 Read more: https://lnkd.in/euhrMX46 #DataGovernance #DataProvenance #ArtificialIntelligence #CDO
