  • “We’re about building dreams, memories and giving attainable housing to people that can’t always afford it,” said Edward Flinton, Clayton’s regional vice president.   This month, five Clayton home centers in Somerset County, Maryland, joined local community leaders to celebrate the opening of Somerset Grove, a new 79-home neighborhood that will open the door to homeownership for more families. The development marks the first major neighborhood in Somerset County in more than 20 years.   Clayton is proud to help bring this neighborhood to life and create more opportunities for families in Somerset County.   Read more from WMDT:

  • For 70 years, Clayton has continued opening doors to homeownership for families across the country. From starting a local business in Knoxville to serving hometowns all across the nation, Clayton has been guided by a simple belief that everyone deserves a place to call home.   “From the day that first Clayton home was sold, our team actively searched for a better way,” said Jim Clayton, Founder. “That became a key part of our cultural foundation. Seventy years later, the Clayton team is still asking, ‘How can we build a better home, improve the customer experience and make homeownership achievable for more families?’”   As Clayton celebrates this milestone anniversary, it’s an opportunity to reflect on the people, values and purpose that have shaped the company since 1956 and continue to guide the road ahead.   Read the press release to learn more about this milestone: https://lnkd.in/gei8pP2h

  • It's encouraging to see continued attention on the impact of the ROAD to Housing Act and what it means for the future of housing affordability. This legislation opens the door for greater innovation in home building and supports efforts to increase the supply of attainable housing across the country by scaling factory-built housing.   Last month, Congressman French Hill, a key advocate for the bill, visited Clayton's Conway, Arkansas facility to discuss the opportunities ahead for the housing industry.   Read the article below for more on the legislation and its potential impact. https://lnkd.in/g2k8jduB

  • What does it take to design a home that welcomes thousands of visitors at the Berkshire Hathaway Shareholder Meeting? For Amanda Graves, Interior Designer at Clayton, it starts with understanding how people truly live. In this article, Amanda shares how thoughtful floor plans, intentional design details and cross-collaboration come together to create a home that is both beautiful and functional. As Amanda writes, the goal isn't to create something people simply admire, it's to create a home where they can see themselves living. Read Amanda's perspective on designing this year's Berkshire Hathaway exhibit home and how Clayton is helping open doors through thoughtful, attainable home design.

As an interior designer, designing a home is about so much more than selecting finishes and furniture. It's about creating spaces that support how people live, gather and make memories every day. One of my favorite projects each year is helping design the home Clayton brings to the Berkshire Hathaway Shareholder Meeting. From the floor plan to the final details, every decision is made with one goal in mind: creating a home that feels both inspiring and attainable. My hope is that everyone who walks through the home can picture their own future there and leave thinking, "I could live here." In this article, I share my approach to designing for real life, why functionality comes first and how collaboration across teams helps bring these homes to life. Amy Scott with Marketplace recently featured a story on the growing role of housing innovation in helping address affordability challenges across the country. The segment built on recent reporting from The Washington Post's Julie Weil, who shared insights from her coverage of the growing role of off-site construction in neighborhood settings, how modern manufactured housing is driving attainability, and recent policy changes that could support industry growth. As part of her piece, Weil highlighted a neighborhood of Clayton-built CrossMod homes in Santa Rosa, California. Combining features often associated with site-built homes with the efficiencies of off-site construction, CrossMod homes represent a distinct housing category designed to expand homeownership opportunities for more families. We are deeply saddened by the loss of singer, songwriter, philanthropist and East Tennessee native Dolly Parton, whose generosity and talent inspired millions around the world.   Clayton Founder Jim Clayton reflected on Dolly's remarkable life and legacy, sharing personal memories from his time hosting a local television variety show in Knoxville, TN where he promoted and grew the Clayton business, and came to showcase the musical performances of Dolly Parton.   “Dolly had great humility. She was an internationally known star, but when she came to the studio, she fit right in and was always so kind,” said Jim Clayton.   From our hometown in East Tennessee to all around the world, Dolly's impact will be felt for generations to come.   Watch the full segment on Jim Clayton's memories of Dolly Parton here: https://lnkd.in/grreZAaR

The Clayton team has begun envisioning what’s next for multi-story home design as we celebrate the new option to remove the steel chassis between the first and upper floors of our modern manufactured homes.  With the ROAD to Housing Act and chassis optionality now law, we will soon be able to open doors for more families to achieve attainable homeownership.   Multi-story off-site built homes offer narrower footprints and increased vertical square footage ideal for urban infill and higher-density neighborhood lots. Using AI, we created this home design to represent a floor plan Clayton plans to release in the future. Join us as we imagine what’s next!   Learn more about the impact of this landmark legislation in our news release here: https://lnkd.in/gUZ5a_wB

We were excited to host Congressman French Hill, Manufactured Housing Institute CEO Lesli Gooch and local officials for a tour of our Clayton Conway facility, led by General Manager Jamar Murchison. Thank you to Chairman Hill for his leadership in advancing the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, which includes the important option to remove the steel chassis from modern manufactured homes. This legislation will help modernize federal housing standards, and allow our homes to feature lower-profile designs that enhance curb appeal and encourage builders to expand new opportunities for innovation, including multi-story home designs in urban and neighborhood locations. Chairman Hill’s efforts represent an important step toward expanding the nation’s housing supply and helping more families achieve attainable homeownership.

Recently, Clayton celebrated the opening of Westgate Heights, a new 34-home neighborhood in Utica, New York, that represents one of the area's largest additions of newly constructed homes in recent years. Bringing energy-efficient, thoughtfully-designed CrossMod homes to the area, this neighborhood is expected to expand availability of new housing, creating attainable homeownership opportunities for local families. We're proud of all the team members at Clayton Homes of Frankfort that are helping to bring homeownership within reach for individuals and families in their community.
