Cell and gene therapies still aren't reaching the people who need them, despite decades of promise. Cure member Irene Rombel is working to change that. As Co-Founder and CEO of BioCurie, she's building AI-driven software to fix the manufacturing bottlenecks that stall these treatments long after the science is ready. The work has landed the company a $9.3 million ARPA-H contract and top honors at two global innovation challenges. In a Q&A with Cure, Irene explains why she bet on process over discovery and what's next as BioCurie prepares to launch its first commercial product. One of our favorite moments from last week’s Power of X Summit was the Catalytic Impact Foundation pitch competition, where five women’s health startups presented solutions addressing major gaps in care. It was even more meaningful to see Deepecho, a member of the Cure community, take the top spot and earn a $100K investment for its AI-powered ultrasound technology—built to materially improve maternal care. We caught up with Co-Founder Saad Slimani after the competition to get his first impressions. For founders looking to sharpen their own pitch, we go deeper in our Concept to Cure series with Deerfield’s Dave Greenwald—breaking down what actually earns investor conviction, from narrative to signal: https://lnkd.in/eFk3TDKV

Day 2 of The Power of X Summit: Women's Health Innovation Summit focused on reimbursement, care models, AI, wearables, diagnostics, and the future of the investment landscape. The morning included a powerful conversation on designing women-centered care models, followed by one of the day's most critical panels on reimbursement, the structural barrier that quietly determines whether innovation ever reaches patients. The takeaway? Reimbursement strategy must drive your regulatory approach from day one. The "Health Rebels Take on AI" fireside with Esther Dyson and Saranne Rothberg brought both humor and substance, including Saranne's study showing AI-powered interventions reduced depression by 18% and stress by 15% among advanced cancer patients, even during the pandemic. The Wearables panel showcased companies like OhmBody, Incora Health, and Doveras who are turning raw biometric data into clinically actionable insights. The Founder & Funder fireside chat between Sonal Pai of First Spark Ventures and Yana Aznavour, MD, PhD of Endometrics reframed the narrative: "We're not funding women's health companies — we're funding the next big revolution in diagnostics." And the closing panel delivered data that should end the nascent market argument for good. Anna Milik Jeter of AOA Dx shared that the sector has produced 24 unicorns, over $100B in exits, and 17x ROI versus the broader market. It's been incredible to see the women's health community in one room and we're eager to see where these conversations lead. WHH Women’s Health Horizons Jason Clark Dr. Bayo C. Day 1 of The Power of X Summit is in the books, and the momentum behind women's health innovation is undeniable. Cure CEO Seema Kumar and WHH Women’s Health Horizons CEO Jason Clark opened the conference with a straightforward point: this is one of the biggest unmet opportunities in healthcare. The Changemakers panel put real numbers behind that. More than $100B in exit value already realized. Investment up 55% in 2024. And a $360B global gap still sitting there. Piraye Beim’s recent exit with Celmatix Therapeutics came up as a moment that helped validate the space in a new way. The physician-entrepreneur panel showed a different angle: what happens when the people closest to patients are the ones building. Sophia Yen, MD, MPH of Pandia Health shared how a custom prescribing algorithm led to 93% patient satisfaction and 82% one-year retention, well above typical benchmarks. Later, the investment panel with Elizabeth Bailey of Foreground Capital and Maria Molland of Frazier Healthcare Partners made it clear that capital is starting to catch up. The afternoon featured several standout moments. The Catalytic Impact Foundation's pitch competition showcased presentations from five early-stage companies disrupting the industry, spanning from maternal health to osteoporosis care. Congratulations to runner-up Feminai and winner Deepecho, who are walking away with funding from CIF. Another highlight was hearing from Jennifer H. Mieres, MD on what it will take to advance cardiovascular care for women. More to come from Day 2! Andrea Olariu, MD, PhD, Liz Powell, Esq., MPH, Michael Annichine, Allison Mignone, Kanwal L. Haq, Stacey Brayboy, Joanne Stone, Amy Eskelsen, LCSW-S, CPHQ, MBA, Kimberly Wells, Amy G., Rachel Butler, Robert Wolk, Richard Lipkin, John O'Brien, MBA, ABV, Saad Slimani, Christine Rohan, Gloria K., Hunter Newman, PhD, Karny Ilan, MD, Nicole Notar, Christina Brinch Clark, Melindah Sharma, Sasha Schrode, Alan Garely, Barbara Hannah Grufferman

We were proud to host this important conversation during #CSW70, bringing together leaders across government, life sciences, finance, and healthcare to explore how cross-sector collaboration can accelerate progress in women’s health.
On the sidelines of #CSW70, we were thrilled to have Swiss Federal Councillor Elisabeth Baume-Schneider co-host “The Architecture of Women’s Health: A Swiss-Led Dialogue on Risk, Resilience, and Innovation," together with Oriana Kraft of FemTechnology. Federal Councillor Baume-Schneider delivered the opening remarks, highlighting why Switzerland is well positioned to lead action on women’s health through its strong tradition of innovation and strong pharmaceutical and finance sectors. Held at Cure. in New York City, the roundtable brought together senior leaders from governance, clinical practice, life sciences, and insurance & finance, including representatives from UBS, Novartis, Swiss Re, ETH Zürich, Roche, Vontobel and Nestlé, alongside international partners such as Dr. Diana Ramos, Office of the California Surgeon General, Ms. Padma Raman, Head of the Australian Delegation to #CSW70, and Finnish State Secretary Ms. Laura Rissanen. The discussion explored how women’s health lies at the intersection of these sectors, and how collaboration can drive progress, both in Switzerland and globally. Participants reflected on how putting women at the center of health system design can unlock both social and economic value. A massive thank you to all who joined us and contributed to this conversation, and to Cure for hosting us in your space. We look forward to continuing this conversation beyond #CSW70. 📸: John Harris

We look forward to welcoming Allison Mignone to our Power of X stage next week for a fireside chat with Cure CEO Seema Kumar. A philanthropist and patient advocate, Allison founded the Mignone Women’s Health Collaborative at NYU Langone Health, a $50 million initiative focused on building more integrated, patient-centered care for women. And her work is deeply personal: after surviving triple-negative breast cancer, she has become a strong voice for expanding access and rethinking how women’s health care is delivered. At Power of X, which we are hosting in partnership with WHH Women’s Health Horizons, Allison and Seema will discuss the role philanthropy, advocacy, and health systems can play in moving women’s health forward, and why more integrated models of care are essential to making real progress. 📍 March 18–19, 2026 📍 Cure, 345 Park Avenue South, NYC 👉 Register: https://lnkd.in/gV-CrP8n
