Today, we honor the unwavering dedication and clinical expertise our certified nurses bring to enhance the care we provide to our patients every day. Join us in celebrating all the incredible certified nurses here at DaVita and across the healthcare community. #CertifiedNursesDay
On #CertifiedNursesDay, we recognize the nurses who choose to go the extra mile—for their patients, their teams and our communities. I get to work with these exceptional nurses every day at DaVita, including Tracey Milligan, Sarah Elvin RN BSc MBA CPPS CPHRM, Nancy Welder, Leslie Linderleaf and so many others. Certification is more than a credential. It’s a commitment to keep learning, to grow your confidence and to deliver the very best care. To our certified nurses: thank you for raising the bar every day. And to nurses thinking about that next step: your expertise matters, and our patients and communities are better because of it. If you’ve earned a certification, are working toward one or recently reached a milestone, share your experience and advice for anyone who may be interested.

For approximately 80,000 Americans, home dialysis offers a sense of normalcy and stability amid the uncertainty of a kidney failure diagnosis. Supporting patients’ success on the treatment is critical to helping them experience the flexibility and independence it provides. Predictive analytics are helping care teams support that goal. Instead of reacting to complications, clinicians can use these insights to act sooner — bridging the distance between the home and the care center to help patients stay on their preferred therapy longer. Last month, I had the opportunity to speak at the Women in Business Conference at Harvard Business School, an experience I’m reflecting on as we recognize International Women’s Day. Empowering the next generation of women leaders has never felt more important, especially as we continue to rewrite the rules across industries like health and wellness. We talked candidly about leadership, scale and what it takes to create impact while staying grounded in purpose. The ambition and inspiration at this event is a perfect reflection of the progress that happens when women are supported, challenged and given space to lead boldly.

At heart, I’m a technologist. When I thought about where technology could truly make a difference, healthcare stood out immediately. Being able to build and implement tools that directly impact patient outcomes is what motivates me most—and it’s why creating more access in this field matters to me, for patients and for the people who want to build meaningful careers in tech. As we recognize International Women’s Day, I’ve been reflecting on how representation in technology has grown. The progress is encouraging, but real change happens when women step forward, organizations open doors and leaders choose to invest in talent that hasn’t always been recognized. To the women considering a career in tech: your perspective, curiosity, and drive matter—and they have the power to create meaningful change where it’s needed most.

Native Americans are 3.5 times more likely to develop kidney failure than white Americans — a disparity often driven by barriers to healthcare access. For Indigenous communities in the rural Southwest, the road to kidney care can require hours of travel, separating patients from their communities, their families and their traditions. Home modalities are helping to change that dynamic. By bringing life-sustaining treatment directly to the patient, DaVita is working to bridge geographic gaps, build trust and empowering patients in their healthcare journeys. The upcoming documentary, "Healing in Our Own Way," showcases how strong collaboration across nephrologists and care teams is helping transform care.
