  • When budgets strain, your gift sustains. Neighbors in every community are finding ways to keep going as costs stay high. But when food, housing, transportation and health care all cost more month after month, getting enough nutritious food on the table gets harder. Changes to government nutrition programs like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) can add to that pressure by making food assistance harder to get or keep. Nearly 48 million people in America, including more than 14 million children, experienced food insecurity in 2024. Feeding America and food banks across the country aren't waiting. We're working with neighbors, partners and communities to help people get nutritious food today and to prepare for the months ahead. Your gift helps bring in food and move it where it's needed, so neighbors can count on support as financial pressures continue. Give now: https://lnkd.in/gZW_XpUB

  • As neighbors face sustained pressure on household budgets, a transformative new investment from Walmart strengthens the systems behind food access, helping food banks recover more surplus food, streamline donations through technology and connect people with critical nutrition resources. Over the next 18 months, this donation is expected to help the Feeding America network rescue 500 million pounds of food while building real, lasting impact for communities nationwide. Axios has the story below.

  • Stability and food security are deeply connected, and neighbors in our 2026 Elevating Voices: Insights Report make that clear. This year’s report conveys how economic pressures and rapidly changing government nutrition programs are making it difficult for families to reliably and consistently put nutritious food on the table. The experiences shared in this report underscore the need to build strong and accountable government nutrition programs, a resilient charitable food system, and solutions that reflect the economic realities families are facing. Neighbors are speaking up, sharing their experiences, and calling for change. Their voices help guide the movement to end hunger towards a future where everyone can access the nutritious food they need to thrive. • More fresh food is on the way! For the sixth year, Darden Restaurants has partnered with Feeding America to donate refrigerated trucks, helping local food banks swiftly transport fresh, nutritious food to people facing hunger. With a $2 million grant from the Darden Restaurants, Inc. Foundation and support from Penske Truck Leasing, seven donated trucks are hitting the road—a reminder that ending hunger takes all of us, and together we are helping neighbors access the food and resources they need to thrive. #HungerActionMonth #EndHungerTogether

  • Food rescue runs on partnership. Farms, food companies, and retailers each play a role in moving surplus food to neighbors, turning excess into access. This Hunger Action Month, we're highlighting a few of the partners behind that system: Mike Etchart of Evercrisp Farm, Claire Wright of The Campbell's Company and Sha Booker of Sprouts Farmers Market. Each represents a different link in the chain, from harvest to retail, that helps keep nutritious food moving to the communities that need it. Collaboration is required to end hunger. • New national reporting lays out how quickly SNAP is changing. More than 4 million people, many of them children, have lost access to SNAP food assistance between last July and April. Nationally, participation is down 11%. Starting this October, states will take on a larger share of the program's administrative costs. An even bigger shift lands in October 2027, when some states will also take on a share of SNAP's benefit costs. Experts warn these funding changes could lead some states to scale back SNAP or withdraw from it entirely. At Feeding America, we see clearly what's at stake. SNAP is the largest source of food assistance in the country, and there's no replacement for it. For every meal the Feeding America network provides, SNAP provides nine. As these changes take effect, understanding the facts matters, for the neighbors who rely on SNAP and for the organizations working alongside them. • Ending hunger takes more than one solution. It takes people willing to look out for each other, especially now, when so many communities are feeling stretched. This Hunger Action Month, neighbors across the Feeding America network are stepping into their part. Some share their stories to help shape policy. Some grow fresh produce for food banks and pantries. Some rescue groceries that would otherwise go uneaten. Others donate, volunteer, or show up to pack and distribute meals. Different roles, one shared purpose: making sure everyone has access to the food they need to thrive. Small actions add up to real change. Find your part this September. Give. Volunteer. Speak up. • Yesterday, the Senate Agriculture Committee moved a farm bill proposal forward. Feeding America is encouraged by the progress represented by the Senate proposal so far and urges Congress to keep working toward a bipartisan farm bill that reinforces and supports SNAP and TEFAP as talks continue. People facing hunger, food banks and farmers across the country are all feeling the strain of higher prices and economic uncertainty. A strong, bipartisan farm bill can help. ➡️ Read our full statement here: bit.ly/472XssN

  • In Florida, one family's experience illustrates how changes to SNAP, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, driven by a fast-approaching federal deadline, may be making it harder for eligible people in many parts of the country to access this crucial food assistance program. FOX 13 Tampa Bay recently covered their story alongside a broader look at the state's SNAP payment error rate. States with higher SNAP payment error rates will soon be required to help cover more of the program's costs themselves. Without enough time for states and counties to improve their SNAP systems and lower these error rates, families' access to food assistance is at risk. Some states are already adding new requirements that seek to reduce errors but make it much harder for eligible families to access SNAP. These errors are about broken systems. That's why we're asking Congress to delay the SNAP cost shift, which states and counties have requested so they can fix what's not work-ing without cutting the support families rely on. SNAP is a bridge that helps people stay steady while they get back on their feet. Give states the time to get this right and protect SNAP access for families who need it.
