  • Somewhere in this image, there's a piece of soft plastic that doesn't belong. Take a look and see if you can spot it before we reveal the answer 🔍 Foreign material detection takes a trained eye — and the right technology behind it. How'd you do?

  • For as long as most #FSQA teams have been building their detection strategy, metal has been the assumed threat. It’s the reason metal detectors are the default piece of equipment on almost every line in the industry. Our 2026 Foreign Material Benchmark data challenges that assumption. Plastic was the most frequently reported contaminant by this year’s respondents — not a dramatic difference, but a steady shift worth paying attention to. We talk about the implications in the full report, linked below 👇

Worn O-rings, gaskets, seals, and conveyor components are a familiar source of foreign material in food plants. The materials they’re made from—HDPE, nitrile, EPDM, and more—are also some of the hardest to find in finished products. On October 22, we’re hosting a webinar about advancements to our X-ray inspection process that allow us to see those materials better than ever before. We’ll cover: → Why low-density plastics and rubber are difficult for conventional X-ray → How our technology works, and where it fits alongside your existing inspection process → What it means for worn-component risk, product holds, and waste Register at the link in the comments ⬇️ #FoodSafety #QualityAssurance #FoodManufacturing

  • We’d like to welcome our Business Development Manager for FlexXray Canada, Liz Kozlowski! With 25 years of food safety experience and a seat on the board for the Niagara SPCA, she’ll be leading the launch of our new facility outside of Toronto, bringing industry-leading food safety solutions to the forefront for Canadian manufacturers. When she’s not at work, she spends most weekends at her cabin off-the-grid, boating, fishing, and relaxing by the fire. We’re excited for her to get started!

  • Worn O-rings, aging gaskets, conveyor belt fragments — low-density plastics and rubber are one of the most common (and hardest to catch) sources of foreign material in food production. Here’s why: these materials sit too closely in density to the food product itself for legacy in-line equipment to reliably identify them. FlexXray’s X-ray equipment now closes that gap. Materials such as HDPE, Buna/NBR, EPDM, and Viton/FKM are visible for the first time. It’s the same third-party inspection leading food producers trust, now with an extended detection range. • In case you missed it: FlexXray’s third annual Foreign Material Benchmark Report is live. A few highlights: → The most common contaminant in food production shifted this year → The equipment producers rely on most may not be aimed at the biggest problem → Confidence in detection technology hasn't moved much in two years → Fewer producers are planning to increase investment than last year See all the data behind our findings in the report, linked in the comments below! #FoodSafety #ForeignMaterial #FSQA #BenchmarkReport
