    As the conflict across the Middle East continues, soaring gas prices have been a major topic of discussion. Eager to save at the pump, US consumers have leaned into gas tracking apps with the category seeing a 51% increase in WoW downloads on March 2nd - seeing a strong correlation with rising oil and gas prices. GasBuddy reached the top of the list with a 212% WoW increase in US downloads, and a significant 72% jump in DAUs for the same week - while the rest of the category actually averaged a 1% decline.     NEWS: GasBuddy predicts gas prices over the upcoming Labor Day weekend will be 14c/gal lower on average than last year, making this the cheapest Labor Day weekend at the pump since 2020. “Labor Day marks the unofficial end of summer, and when it comes to gas prices, it’s been the cheapest summer to hit the road since the pandemic, a trend that will likely continue with the potential for the national average to fall below $3 per gallon this fall,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “We’ve seen a remarkably affordable summer to hit the road with incomes up and gas prices down, but there are some challenges that remain: hurricane season and uncertainty over trade, tariffs and Russia’s war on Ukraine.
