About us
We Are Girl Scouts. Girl Scouts bring their dreams to life and work together to build a better world. Through programs from coast to coast, Girl Scouts of all backgrounds and abilities can be unapologetically themselves as they discover their strengths and rise to meet new challenges—whether they want to climb to the top of a tree or the top of their class, lace up their boots for a hike or advocate for climate justice, or make their first best friends. Backed by trusted adult volunteers, mentors, and millions of alums, Girl Scouts lead the way as they find their voices and make changes that affect the issues most important to them. Twelve years ago, these nine Girl Scouts from Service Unit 212 started this journey together as kindergarteners. Today, they’re all licensed drivers. 🚗💚 To prepare for this new chapter, they earned their Car Care badges, learning the basics of vehicle care and how to be informed, responsible car owners. It’s the kind of practical knowledge that becomes increasingly important as girls grow into adulthood, and a reminder of how meaningful it can be to have a space to learn those skills alongside people you’ve grown up with. From kindergarten to the driver’s seat, they’ve learned a lot together. And there’s still plenty of road ahead. 💚 Via: Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama

Last week, Girl Scout Ambassador Morireoluwa took the stage at the 2026 Forbes Power Women’s Summit, sharing the story behind her Girl Scout Gold Award project and the change she hopes to create. Her Gold Award project, TLC (Tender Loving Care), is centered on creating spaces where adolescents of color can embrace and care for their natural hair. Morireoluwa has led hands-on workshops where participants can practice braiding, protective styles and learn the cultural history behind cornrows and braids. She has also secured more than $13,000 in hair project donations to support her work. At the Summit, Morireoluwa had the opportunity to connect with inspiring women including Christina Koch, Ashlyn Harris, Regina King and Moira Forbes, while bringing her voice and the impact of Girl Scout leadership to a powerful stage. We are proud to see Morireoluwa representing Girl Scouts of the USA, sharing her Gold Award journey and using her voice to inspire others!

Are we measuring girls’ sports experiences by the right things? Winning, making the team, and scoring matter. But if we want girls to stay engaged in sports and physical activity, we also need to pay attention to whether they’re having fun, improving, connecting with teammates, and wanting to come back. In fact, 83% of girls say having fun is more important than winning. New Girl Scout research explores what girls really want from sports and physical activity, what can push them away, and what adults can do to help keep them moving. https://lnkd.in/gaeqi35g

When you're a Girl Scout, not even the sky is the limit. ✈️ Council events like "Girls Fly Too" produced by Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan gives Girl Scouts the opportunity to explore careers in aviation first-hand from the women who keep this industry flying high today. From airplane mechanics, pilot communication systems, runway and taxiway operations to navigation charts and the science of flight, the inspiration from moments like these could spark life-long careers.

Girl Scout Cookie Season is making room for something new. Actually, two things. 🍪🐶 Developed with Partake Foods, Girl Scout Sparkables™ bring a new allergy-friendly option to the lineup: crunchy oatmeal chocolate chip cookies with colorful sprinkles. And developed with BARK, Patch Pals™ mark a Girl Scout first: soft-baked, blueberry muffin-inspired treats created just for dogs. 🐾

"We all have a place at the campfire. It was Girl Scouts who first taught me that." As a Girl Scout alum and First-Class Award recipient (now the Girl Scout Gold Award), Gloria Steinem carried that lesson with her throughout her life. She dedicated her career to championing equality and amplifying the voices of women and girls. Today, we honor Gloria’s extraordinary life, lasting impact, and legacy of making sure everyone has a place at the campfire.

Girl Scouts aren’t just preparing girls for the future, they’re shaping it. Gold Award Girl Scout Advithi proved what’s possible with Engineering the Future, a free STEM camp that reached 250+ underrepresented students. By centering girls, low‑income youth, and role models who are women and people of color, she showed young innovators that STEM belongs to them. Her project continues to grow through partners who use her STEM passports and career boards to expand access and representation for years to come. Advithi’s impact reflects the power of Girl Scouts and it’s a reminder that the movement continues long after a girl’s own journey. Girl Scout alums can reconnect, support today’s changemakers, and stay part of the community empowering the next generation of STEM leaders. Young people have more access to financial information than any generation before them. But access alone isn't enough. In a world of viral financial advice, opinions, and influences, girls need trusted guidance and opportunities to build real-world financial confidence. That's why I'm proud to join leaders from youth-serving organizations across the country in this new article on the importance of hands-on financial education. At Girl Scouts, we've been showing up for girls and helping them build their financial literacy and business skills since long before women could open a bank account, apply for a credit card, or secure a home loan without a man cosigning for her. Through entrepreneurship programs, financial literacy badges, and experiences that put learning into practice, girls build confidence, judgment, and decision-making skills that will help them become ready for the future. I'm grateful to Christopher Wyse, Charles Schwab, and my fellow youth development leaders featured in this piece for investing in the next generation of financially capable leaders. Today's girls are tomorrow's entrepreneurs, community leaders, and changemakers. Investing in their financial acumen is investing in all of our futures.
