Finally, after decades, Chicago has broken ground on Du Sable Park. It is a tribute to Jean Baptiste Point du Sable's vision of Chicago being a center of trade in the Midwest and a celebration of the diversity that he and his Potawatomi wife, Kitihawa, represent which is reflected in Chicago's 77 diverse communities. This would not happen, but for the perseverance of Peggy Montes and Dr. Serge Pierre-Louis.
