  • How should sequencing performance be evaluated: by isolated screenshots or by comprehensive benchmarks? We took a closer look at recent questions about TruPath Genome and compared the examples with established truth sets. Our analysis shows why individual loci can be useful starting points, but cannot support technology-level conclusions on their own. Rigorous, variant-appropriate benchmarking is the standard. See the data and methods in our analysis. Read the analysis: https://lnkd.in/eymHAPWW

The next era of precision health will be led by nations with the vision to connect biology, data, technology, and healthcare — and to build the pathways that turn scientific insight into better health for their citizens.    I had the privilege of welcoming H.E. Edgars Rinkēvičs, President of the Republic of Latvia, and his delegation to Illumina headquarters in San Diego last week.    We share a commitment to advancing collaboration in genomics, research, and precision medicine. This vision is reflected in the memorandum of understanding with Latvia’s leading research, academic, and healthcare institutions, including NIRI, RAKUS, RSU, the University of Latvia, PSKUS, and BKUS. Together, we aim to advance genomics research, accelerate precision medicine, and improve outcomes for patients.    I am inspired by what we can build from here. No company or country will build this future alone. Through meaningful collaborations that connect science, technology, health systems, and national ambition, together we can shift precision health from promise into practice for the people we are here to serve.    Thank you to President Rinkēvičs, the Latvian delegation, and all our customers for the thoughtful discussions and visit.  National Institute of Research and Innovation; Rīgas Austrumu klīniskā universitātes slimnīca; University of Latvia (Latvijas Universitāte); Paula Stradiņa Klīniskā universitātes slimnīca; Bērnu klīniskā universitātes slimnīca / Children's Clinical University Hospital

  • Illumina adopted a middle school. What happened next changed the narrative. Over the course of a year, students at Akira R. Toki Middle School extracted DNA from strawberries, stepped inside a genomics company, explored unexpected career paths, and began imagining new possibilities for their futures. But the real impact came from something simpler: showing up again and again. Through hands-on STEM experiences, career conversations, transportation support, community events, and even a transformed school library, Illumina employees worked alongside educators to support the needs of the entire school community. As Principal Sheba Mays put it: “Toki is seen and valued.” See how a year-round partnership helped turn curiosity into possibility 👉 https://bit.ly/3SRDv4V
