New book chapter on UNFC and UNRMS for sustainable resource management We are pleased to share that the chapter “UNFC and UNRMS - Global Tools Enabling Sustainable Resource Management for a Better Tomorrow” has been published in the book Integrated Approaches to Sustainable Resource and Environmental Management (IntechOpen). The chapter highlights how the United Nations Framework Classification for Resources (UNFC) and the United Nations Resource Management System (UNRMS) support sustainable resource management by integrating environmental, social, and economic considerations into resource decision-making. These global tools help governments, industries, and stakeholders manage resources responsibly while supporting the Sustainable Development Goals and the energy transition. Mars Society Kenya is proud to announce that the Chapter authored by our President and Founder Isaac Macharia has been published in the international scientific book "The Human Element in Advancing 21st-Century Space Exploration" by IntechOpen. The Chapter, “Perspective Chapter: Pioneering Analog Astronaut Research in Africa – The OASEAS Habitat in Kenya,” highlights Kenya’s emerging role in human space exploration research and introduces the Omni-Africa Space Exploration Analog Simulation (OASEAS) Habitat, an innovative analog environment designed to test sustainable living systems for future missions to the #Moon and #Mars. Through this work, Mars Society Kenya demonstrates how #Africa can contribute meaningfully to #global #spaceexploration by developing #technologies and #operational models and #astronaut #missiontraining in Isolated, Confined, and Extreme (ICE) environments. The Omni-Africa Space Exploration Analog Simulation (OASEAS) initiative is Africa's premier private Analog Simulation Habitat and Research Station in the Chalbi Desert of Marsabit County, Kenya and the integration of #research, #education, and space tourism experiences that will inspire the next generation of African scientists and engineers. This milestone further strengthens Kenya’s position in the international Analog Astronaut Community and supports the country’s long-term ambitions in space science, sustainability research, and STEM education.
