There are so many ways, big and small, for wineries to reduce their environmental footprint. At Hill-Smith Family Estates, the team identified its vehicle fleet as one concrete area where it could reduce emissions. They slowly upgraded their corporate vehicles to hybrid models. By the time this transition was completed in early 2025, they had reduced fossil fuel-related emissions across their operational fleet by about 40%!

IWCA - International Wineries for Climate Action reposted this
We're counting down the days to Sustainability in Drinks! It's one of our favorite events — a chance to dig deeper into the nuanced facets of sustainability, from emissions reduction to soil health and much more. We're looking forward to hosting and contributing to a few sessions, with many of our member wineries featured across the agenda.
Sustainability in Drinks (SID) has confirmed its lineup of speakers for 2026, with more than 60 experts from both the sustainability and drinks worlds coming together for a day of discussion, ideas and action. A closing keynote address – introduced by Jancis Robinson MW – will be delivered by George Lamb, co-founder of regenerative farming business Wildfarmed, which works with over 100 growers, bakeries and restaurants to get “better food, from better farms on to the high street”. Lamb’s focus will be how regenerative farming builds resilience into supply chains, and the implications for producers, buyers and retailers across the drinks industry.

There's no doubt that wine is a victim of climate change... but can it also become a symbol of resilience? In the face of the climate crisis, IWCA co-founder Miguel A. Torres, president of Familia Torres, sees responsibility, innovation, and hope. https://lnkd.in/dPreVTdW
