  • September is Suicide Prevention Month, a time to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and remind others that help is available. Mental health challenges can affect anyone, and reaching out for support is a sign of strength. According to the CDC, an estimated 14.3 million U.S. adults seriously thought about suicide in 2024, highlighting the importance of connection, awareness, and access to care. Together, we can help create hope, encourage conversations, and remind others that they are not alone.

  • Career fairs are about more than filling open positions; they’re an opportunity to introduce people to the work, the mission, and the people behind it. Emily and Kaycia brought plenty of creativity (and apparently half a toy store) to this one, creating conversations with job seekers about the many ways they can build a career in behavioral health. We loved meeting so many future professionals — and maybe helping a few discover a career path they hadn’t considered before. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, played along, asked questions, and learned a little more about #TeamLakeland

What a day! I’d say today’s career fair was a huge success, and we left genuinely excited about the people we met and the conversations we had about careers Lakeland Behavioral Health System. Kaycia T. and I set out to do something a little different. You have to know the two of us to understand our table was NEVER going to be boring. Yes, we still had a stack of job descriptions and a “scan here to apply” sign. AND we also brought a tent, stuffed animals, art supplies, games, and our 60 Second Career Assessment because the people who thrive in behavioral health tend to bring a little creativity, flexibility, humor, and heart with them. We had a line y’all. We talked with future therapists, behavioral health professionals, recreational therapy staff, and people who had never considered behavioral health until today. That was the goal. Working with kids in behavioral health is challenging, unpredictable, exhausting, funny, meaningful, and occasionally involves sitting on the floor making friendship bracelets. It takes a special kind of person. Today, I think we found quite a few of them. A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by, took our career assessment, asked questions, laughed with us, and are considering joining our team. And Kaycia, I’d say we understood the assignment. #LakelandBehavioralHealth #MentalHealthCareers #CareerFair #NowHiring #SpringfieldMO

  • Today, we pause to remember September 11, 2001. We honor the lives lost, the families forever changed, the survivors, and the first responders and everyday people who showed extraordinary courage in the face of unimaginable tragedy. Twenty-five years later, we also remember what followed: communities coming together, neighbors caring for neighbors, and people choosing compassion in moments of uncertainty. May we continue to carry that spirit forward—by checking on one another, showing kindness freely, and remembering that even small acts of care can make a meaningful difference. We will never forget. #September11 #NeverForget #PatriotDay #Remembrance #Community

  • Never underestimate the power of small things — especially the simple act of bringing a smile to someone’s face. During Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, we’re reminded that meaningful support doesn’t always come through grand gestures. Sometimes it’s a kind word, a little encouragement, a moment of laughter, or simply letting someone know they matter. This week, our very own Dr. Bee joined members of our outpatient team for a visit to our children’s unit, bringing plenty of smiles, hugs, dances and fist bumps — along with a few small treats to recognize jobs well done in treatment efforts. The moments were simple. The smiles were not. This month, we encourage everyone to look for opportunities to do the small things that might brighten someone else’s day. You may never know just how much they matter. #SuicidePreventionMonth #MentalHealthMatters #BehavioralHealth #CultureOfCare #TeamLakeland
