Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
About us
Make-A-Wish creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Since 1980, Make-A-Wish has granted more than 500,000 wishes worldwide with the help of more than 43,000 volunteers across 50 countries on five continents. The Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area chapter was founded in 1984 and has granted more than 9,000 wishes in its 40-year history. The chapter covers 17 Northern California counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake, Mendocino, Napa, Marin, Monterey, San Benito, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, Siskiyou, Solano and Sonoma. Research shows children who have wishes granted build the physical and emotional strength needed to fight a critical illness. This can improve their quality of life and produce better health outcomes. Wishes can’t happen without community support, so thank you for supporting and sharing our mission so every eligible child can have their wish granted.

Five-year-old Sarah has loved horses since her first ride at 2 years old, but her leukemia diagnosis has prevented her from returning to the stables. When she learned she’d receive a wish, it brought a renewed sense of hope for her and her family. A chance to reignite her passion for horses, Sarah wished to be a horse trainer! 🐎 On her wish day, Sarah arrived in riding boots and western gear and was named an honorary trainer—spending the day feeding, learning about, and riding horses with her family. “She was so sick for a while and to take her to do something where she doesn’t have to think about when she’s going to the doctor next and to just be a kid … I’m so thankful.” – Caitlin, Sarah’s mom 💙 ☀️ This summer, you can help create unforgettable wish experiences for children like Sarah: https://lnkd.in/gVEnzcUn Make-A-Wish America | Make-A-Wish Hawaii #WishWednesday #SummerOfWishes

“My daughter beat cancer, and [her wish] was like a celebration of she made it. We made it.” – Jennifer, Jonie’s mom 💙 Jonie’s big sister spotted a rarity in her eye, which led to a devastating cancer diagnosis, six months of chemotherapy and Jonie’s eye being removed. Her wish to see every animal she loves became a light of hope and joy for Jonie’s family as she recovered. “I [have] seen half of them, but then I really wanted to see all of them—and some don’t live around here,” Jonie said. On her wish, Jonie fed peanuts to a gorilla and met a friendly llama and giraffes. But the highlight was a surprise unicorn photoshoot. “I loved it!” Jonie said. 🦄 This summer, you can help give more children facing critical illnesses renewed hope for brighter days ahead. ☀️ Give now: https://lnkd.in/gVEnzcUn Make-A-Wish America | Make-A-Wish Texas Gulf Coast and Louisiana #TestimonialTuesday
