Thank you to AEP Transmission American Electric Power for bringing people together for a fantastic day of golf at the AEP Charity Golf Tournament and, most importantly, helping support our neighbors facing hunger! The AEP Charity Golf Tournament raised an incredible $214,000 for Mid-Ohio Food Collective, helping provide more than 535,000 meals for our community. We're deeply grateful to everyone who participated, donated, sponsored, and helped make the tournament such a tremendous success. Your generosity and commitment to our community will have a lasting impact on local families, helping ensure our neighbors have access to the food and resources they need to thrive. Do you have a creative fundraising idea of your own? We'd love to help bring it to life and turn your passion into an opportunity to support our neighbors. Construction is underway at the Eastland Prosperity Center, and we could not be more thankful for the support that is helping to bring this new project to life through the New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC). We are grateful to our partners at Huntington National Bank, McCormack Baron Companies, Urban Action Community Development, and The Community Builders, as well as the U.S. Department of the Treasury! Because of your support, we are one step closer to expanding our community outreach to new heights. Nationwide Vice President Kristen Rost recently joined Good Day Extra to talk about the work Nationwide and Mid-Ohio Food Collective are doing together to fight hunger in our community. What started as a farmer-founded company has grown into one of the largest insurance and wellness organizations in the country, with a commitment to bringing security to our neighbors. Nationwide and MOFC have been partners since the early 1980s, sharing a commitment to supporting our community and ensuring our neighbors have access to the food they need. We’re grateful to have a partner that shares our mission and continues to stand alongside us in the fight against hunger. This Hunger Action Month, we’re proud to work together to make an impact across central and eastern Ohio. Watch it here: https://lnkd.in/e8VxgXCK

Last week, Mark Bruce, Head of Kroger Communications and Public Affairs and MOFC Board member, joined Good Day Extra to highlight the impact of our partnership with the Kroger Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation. During Hunger Action Month, we’re celebrating a partnership that started with a single pallet of milk and has grown to more than 4 billion meals donated by Kroger. Thank you, Mark, for helping share what we can accomplish when we work together to end hunger in our communities. Watch it here: https://lnkd.in/ePeftfcZ

The Eastland Prosperity Center project is about more than a new building. It’s about the people and community behind it. This story highlights the impact of the project through the eyes of Dalanda Kounta, an incredible 18-year-old who grew up in the Eastland area and is now working full-time with Elford, Inc on the project. As we approach the opening of Eastland later this year, stories like Dalanda’s show the lasting impact this project can have right here in the neighborhood. You can watch it here: https://lnkd.in/eaUiYfZ5.

This Hunger Action Month, we’re celebrating the people finding creative ways to take action against hunger. For Columbus band Gelatinus Cube, that means turning their love of music and community into an annual fundraiser supporting Mid-Ohio Food Collective. Since 2015, their efforts have helped provide thousands of meals to neighbors across Central Ohio. Read their story: https://lnkd.in/eFYm8e8F.

There is something about a plant and seed swap that captures what we are building at Mid-Ohio Food Collective's Farm. It is not just the seedlings people carry home, though we will have plenty of cool-season starts ready to go. It is the gardeners who show up with extra seeds and a willingness to share what they know. Join us for our Free Fall Plant and Seed Swap on Thursday, September 24th from 5 to 7pm. Bring your extra seeds and plants to share, or just come take home free seedlings to extend your season. Meet fellow growers, swap tips, and keep your garden going. Free and open to everyone. Mid-Ohio Farm on the Hilltop 116 N Wheatland Ave, Columbus OH 43223 RSVP: https://lnkd.in/gZpGFkgm
