About us

In 1958, our founder, Momofuku Ando created the world’s first instant noodles. On a trip to the U.S. in 1966, Mr. Ando noticed Americans curiously eating forkfuls of noodles out of cups, instead of using bowls and chopsticks. With that simple observation, the worldwide Cup Noodles® phenomenon was born. Shortly after, in 1970, Nissin officially put down its roots in the U.S. In 1972, our Gardena, CA, plant started production of Top Ramen®—the first instant ramen manufactured and sold in the U.S. And ever since, Nissin Foods USA has been creating jobs, launching careers and sharing the joy of noodles with the world.

  • Our Ramen Roadshow Hot Water Van is an important part of our commitment to communities in need.    The idea was inspired by our Hurricane Helene relief efforts, when we donated product to communities across the Upstate and saw firsthand that the need went beyond simply providing food. We also needed a way to help people prepare and enjoy a hot meal during times of need.   That experience inspired our Hot Water Van, which lets us bring both our products and the means to prepare them wherever relief efforts take us.   Since then, the van has supported a variety of organizations and causes, building on a concept first pioneered by Nissin Foods Japan and Nissin Foods Brazil.   Looking ahead, we remain committed to using the Hot Water Van to provide a warm meal and a little comfort when communities need it most.

  • “Peace will come to the world when people have enough to eat.” — Momofuku Ando   This Hunger Action Month, we’re proud to recognize the Feeding America food banks and other organizations we’ve supported across the country. Their work reflects a belief that has been part of Nissin Foods since our beginning — the power of food to make a difference. We’re proud of the support we’ve provided and look forward to continuing to help fight hunger in the communities we call home.

Cup Noodles is bringing some bite to spooky season with the launch of limited-edition Cup Noodles Vampire Noodles!   Available exclusively at Walmart stores nationwide, Vampire Noodles turn a striking red when water is added, thanks to natural vegetable coloring. With bold hot garlic flavor and savory chicken umami, the limited-edition variety brings a fun new twist to spooky season.   “Halloween is the perfect moment to create something unexpected, and Vampire Noodles does exactly that,” said Priscila C Stanton, our Senior Vice President of Marketing. “The red transformation and bold hot garlic flavor turn an everyday meal into a memorable Halloween experience. We’re giving fans a surprising new way to celebrate the season with Cup Noodles.”   Congratulations to all our teams across Nissin Foods who helped bring this limited-edition launch to life!

  • September is Hunger Action Month, a national campaign launched by Feeding America and its network of food banks in 2007 to raise awareness and inspire action to help end hunger in America.   At Nissin Foods, that mission connects deeply to our own history. Our founder, Momofuku Ando, believed in the power of food to help people in times of need and famously said, “Food is a peace industry.”   We’re proud to carry his legacy forward through our ongoing food donations to Feeding America food banks and other hunger-relief organizations in the communities we call home.   Hunger Action Month is an important reminder of the difference we can make when we come together to support our neighbors. We’re proud to continue doing our part by helping provide food to those in need and supporting the communities we’re fortunate to call home.

  • Today is a special day for one of our most beloved and well-known products. It's Cup Noodles 55th Anniversary! During a trip to the United States in 1966, our founder, Momofuku Ando, saw supermarket managers break instant noodles into cups, add hot water, and eat our ramen directly from the cup. This observation sparked an idea, and that idea turned into Cup Noodles, creating an entirely new standard for convenience. We are committed to honoring the legacy of our founder Momofuku Ando by continuing to innovate, and we thank everyone that has played a part in our journey. Happy birthday, Cup Noodles!
