Baton Rouge is quickly becoming a major market for the New Orleans Pelicans and the Gulf Coast Sports & Entertainment Network (GCSEN). Since launching in September 2024, GCSEN has expanded Pelicans access across the Gulf South, airing 80 of 82 games last season and all 82 games this season. The Capital Region now ranks as the No. 2 viewing market behind New Orleans, with some broadcasts reaching 20,000+ viewers locally. The surge in Baton Rouge is a powerful reminder that Pelicans fandom stretches well beyond New Orleans. This is a franchise embraced across the entire Gulf Coast Region. I am so excited to share news with you that I’ve kept secret for a month ever since a film crew showed up at my house then promptly had me sign an NDA until I could announce it today! Drumroll…… I’ve been named a “Remarkable Woman of 2026”  through WGNO ABC26, part of the national Nexstar Media Group Remarkable Women initiative. Each year, this program recognizes women across the country who are making a meaningful impact in their communities. I am beyond humbled to be included among these 125 women nationwide who are serving, leading, mentoring, and creating change. The reality is that we are all remarkable in our own ways. The women building businesses. The ones raising families. The ones mentoring, volunteering, leading quietly behind the scenes. The work I do has always been rooted in one belief: when we prioritize connection, we elevate ourselves and each other. I cannot wait to connect with the other award winners from across the country in Nashville this weekend. I can’t wait to learn from them, support them, and celebrate what each of us is building. The New Orleans Pelicans teamed up with the NBA Foundation and United Way as the NBA Foundation presented a $75K grant to United Way of Southeast Louisiana, one of the Foundation’s newest grantees, to support impactful local programming. With help from Jordan Poole and Saddiq Bey, we also packed 200+ financial education kits to help advance economic empowerment across our community.
