“We’ll forget her soon enough.” In a recent interview on NPR’s All Things Considered, Charles Spencer – brother of Diana, Princess of Wales – recounts a phone call he had with then-Prince Charles shortly after Diana’s death. The quote is one of the most talked about revelations from Spencer’s new memoir about Diana, “Swan Song”. He explains to host Scott Detrow why he chose to include it, and why his book’s final sentences – that Diana will never be extinguished from our minds – are a direct counter to that fateful call.

Millions of voices are impossible to ignore. As we begin our second year without federal funding, the NPR Network’s reporting remains loud and clear because people continue to step up to power this free press – often $35, $100 dollars at a time. The existence of public media isn’t something we can quietly take for granted. It’s an ongoing commitment that we will live out together. Thank you. When you donate, you fuel the facts that hold power to account, the reporting that cuts through disinformation, and the music, stories and shows that connect us. Power this free press when you donate today >> https://n.pr/4yerbLt
