Every Child Deserves a Place to Belong
About us
One Hope United (OHU) is there for children and families from early childhood through young adulthood. We run early childhood education centers, family support programs, foster care services and Hope Houses, a specialized foster home model for teenagers who have run out of placement options. Across all of it, the same belief drives us: a child can only build a strong future when they have real stability, and real stability only grows out of relationships that hold. Our Mission One Hope United creates the stability children need to build a life of their own. Our Promise We build places that feel like home.

At One Hope United, we know that better outcomes start with a commitment to improvement. The CQI Community Group’s annual conference brings together leaders and professionals across sectors to share knowledge, explore new strategies, and strengthen the continuous quality improvement (CQI) process. We’re grateful for opportunities like this to connect with others who share our commitment to creating brighter futures. Thank you to the CQI Community Group and School of Social Work, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for hosting this event, and to Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and QI Folio for sponsoring the opportunity to connect and learn together!

Costumes, candy, and community! Fall Fest brought all the Halloween fun to our newly renamed Ellen Rudnick and Paul Earle Early Learning Center in Waukegan this month! From face painting and trunk-or-treating to snacks and plenty of festive fun, the children and families came together to celebrate the season and make lasting memories. And of course, it wouldn’t be Halloween without pumpkins! 🎃 A big thank you to Howard Schnitzer for his donation and helping make the day extra special for the kids!

Behind every number is a story. And behind every story? A whole lot of hope. At One Hope United, we know impact isn’t just measured in numbers. It’s measured in the feeling of belonging, the people who become family, and the possibilities that open up when someone has the support to thrive. These are the numbers that matter and the possibilities are endless.

What a beautiful morning at the naming ceremony for the new Ellen Rudnick and Paul Earle Early Learning Center! We are beyond grateful for their generosity as we celebrate this milestone together. As Busy Bee becomes The Ellen Rudnick and Paul Earle Early Learning Center, it will continue to serve as a place where children and families grow and thrive. We are honored that Ellen and Paul have entrusted us with their namesake and we thank them for their dedication to One Hope United. Special thanks to Cheryl D. for hosting the ceremony, Senator Adriane Johnson and Joyce Heneberry for their remarks, and Joshua May of the Waukegan Mayor’s Office for joining the celebration.

As #HispanicHeritageMonth continues, early learners at Bridgeport Child Development Center are taking it all in with the help of our Disabilities Coordinator, Donely Hernandez, M.ed . He shared the book "Pepe and the Parade" with the children, a story that highlights a festival celebrating the richness and beauty of Hispanic culture. "It was inspiring to see their excitement as they learned about traditions, community, and cultural pride," Donely shared.

As September comes to a close, so does Child Welfare Worker Appreciation Month. And we'd like to thank all of the child welfare workers at One Hope United making a difference every day. Child welfare work is about more than providing resources and support. It’s about building relationships, advocating for families, navigating challenges, and helping create stronger futures for the children and young people we serve. To every OHU child welfare worker: thank you for the compassion and dedication you bring to this work. We’re proud to celebrate you!
