Do dogs need to eat meat? Just like humans, our canine companions require specific nutrients: protein, essential amino acids, fats, vitamins, and minerals. When a food provides those nutrients in the proper amounts, the source matters less than many people realize. https://lnkd.in/eWwPhbFH #dogs #diet #health #CanineCompanions #nutrients #food #AnimalCompanions #nutrition #vegan #info #facts

Animals are not ours to experiment on, eat, wear, use for entertainment, or abuse in any other way.
About us
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) entities have more than 10.4 million members and supporters globally, and PETA U.S. is the largest animal rights organization in the world. PETA focuses its attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: in laboratories, in the food industry, in the clothing trade, and in the entertainment industry. We also work on a variety of other issues, including the cruel killing of rodents, birds, and other animals who are often considered “pests” as well as cruelty to domesticated animals. PETA works through public education, cruelty investigations, research, animal rescue, legislation, special events, celebrity involvement, and protest campaigns. PETA Foundation was founded in 1993 as an organization that helps PETA run, and includes departments like IT, Development, and Interactive Media. PETA and the PETA Foundation are two separate organizations but work very closely together. Looking for a career in animal rights? See our open positions here: http://www.peta.org/jobs.

The Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) Board of Directors has just passed a resolution calling for a “substantial reduction” in monkeys used at the Oregon National Primate Research Center, a transition toward non-animal research, and departure from the federal National Primate Research Center network! This follows sustained pressure by PETA, the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, Oregon legislators, Governor Tina Kotek, and hundreds of thousands of Oregonians. It’s a good step toward closing the primate center, as negotiations with NIH for funding sanctuary placement of the monkeys continue—and we’ve worked hard for progress in the last 18 months, as well as in the two decades before that. But OHSU is leaving the door open for some experiments on monkeys. We need to close that door. Please take action by leaving polite comments on OHSU’s Facebook and Instagram, thanking the board for committing to substantially reducing the number of monkeys in its primate center and urging them to send ALL the monkeys to a sanctuary. https://lnkd.in/gPft_Rqg #primates #OregonPrimateLab #sanctuary #PrimateCenter #pressure #NonAnimalResearch #TakeAction #adocate #AnimalLiberation #NotAnExperiment #progress

Did you know that 80 to 90% of dogs over the age of three show signs of periodontal disease? This common condition, caused by plaque and tartar buildup, leads to bad breath, gum inflammation, and even tooth loss. If left untreated, it can progress to more serious health issues, including infections that affect the heart, kidneys, and liver. The good news? There are simple things you can do to keep your pup’s pearly whites in tip-top shape! https://lnkd.in/ecNvXybB #Dogs #periodentaldisease #DogWellbeing #DogHealth #VeterinaryCare #PreventiveCare #VetTech #dentalcare

Public records, government reports, and visitor reviews have exposed how dolphins suffer at theme parks, resorts, and unaccredited aquariums across the country. Dolphins belong in the ocean—not in concrete tanks where every aspect of their lives is controlled for human entertainment. As more people witness marine park misery, the message is becoming harder to ignore: there’s nothing educational, inspiring, or conservation-minded about a lifetime of confinement. Never visit a marine park, resort, or shoddy aquarium that uses dolphins for entertainment. Urge these facilities to release the dolphins to seaside sanctuaries. https://lnkd.in/gXCWiuW9 #dolphins #suffering #cruelty #MarineParks #EmptyTheTanks #NotYourEntertainment #confinement #advocate #activist #boycott

The penchant for tormenting and killing animals in U.S. laboratories isn’t limited to mice and rats. Every year, more than 42,000 dogs circle endlessly in small, barren cages, their ears tattooed with ID numbers. Each one awaits the whim of an experimenter for the next round of torture. Almost none make it out alive. Experimenters like beagles best. They’re small and easy to handle. They’re also naturally kind, so they’re less inclined to fight back. This makes them good “test subjects” for unimaginable cruelty. Piece by piece, PETA has dismantled portions of the dog experimentation pipeline. Our undercover investigation into Envigo helped expose conditions at the company’s fetid Virginia breeding factory and paved the way for the liberation of more than 4,000 dogs. Working with a coalition of groups, we saved nearly 2,000 beagles after years of pressure shut down Wisconsin breeding giant Ridglan Farms. A PETA undercover investigation exposing the horrific treatment of dogs and cats at Red Beast Enterprises in Colorado led to the facility’s closure and the rescue of nearly 70 dogs and cats. There’s much more to do, but we can end the needless suffering of dogs in laboratories. Please take these six simple actions to help. https://lnkd.in/e22VS7Gh #EndAnimalExperimentation #AnimalTesting #laboratory #lab #AnimalCruelty #TakeAction #activism #dogs

Was one of these badgers killed for your makeup brush? If you use makeup, paint, or shaving brushes, and they’re not made from only synthetic materials, you are holding bristles stolen from a dead body. As reported in the New York Post, an eyewitness went inside eight badger hair farms in China and documented what the brush industry doesn’t want you to see. https://lnkd.in/e_bN7FQP #badgers #cruelty #investigation #BadgerHair #Eyewitness #makeup #MakeupBrushes #NotOurs2Use #compassion #AnimalLiberation #AnimalRights #advocate #activist

A University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School (UMass Chan) experimenter is bleeding dry federal coffers while infecting animals with blood-sucking parasites—and somehow these are only the latest depraved tests PETA has uncovered at the university. 🐁 🩸 💔 https://lnkd.in/eP94fAJd #EndAnimalExperimentation #AnimalTesting #laboratory #lab #AnimalCruelty #UMass #UMassChan #UniversityOfMassachusetts #Massachusetts #ChanMedicalSchool #UMassAmherst #TakeAction #activism

In 2017, Illinois became the first state in the nation to ban traveling elephant acts. It was an unprecedented step that recognized these animals as the emotional, sensitive individuals they are—not circus props for human entertainment. Now, the Prairie State has taken another powerful step forward. In 2026, Illinois expanded its historic elephant‑protection law to include big cats, monkeys and other primates, and bears, effectively shutting down even more abusive traveling acts that rely on confinement, fear, and violent training methods. Signed by Gov. JB Pritzker, the updated law bans the use of these animals in any traveling performance, including circuses, fairs, and mobile exhibits. https://lnkd.in/es9b8eRR #huge #win #victory #ban #elephants #animals #sensitive #NotYourEntertainment #activist #advocate #historic #ElephantProtection
