Katerina Eva Matsa: Local newsrooms have been shrinking for years. A growing share of Americans recognize the financial struggles — 39% now say their local news outlets are not doing well financially, up from 24% just a few years ago. Yet while eight-in-ten U.S. adults say local news is at least somewhat important to their community, only 12% say they’ve paid for local news in the past year. The top reason people give for not paying: They say they can find plenty of local news for free. Do you pay for news? Let us know in the comments.💬👇 #PewKnightInitiative

What political messages are people getting from their clergy? 66% of U.S. adults who regularly attend religious services say they have heard about at least one political topic from their clergy in the past few months. We asked about a few specific topics that have been in the news lately, and respondents said that abortion, Israel and homosexuality were the among the most commonly cited. When regular attenders hear about these topics, they report that they tend to hear messages against abortion, against homosexuality or in support of Israel. Fewer say they hear messages supporting abortion rights, encouraging acceptance of people who are gay or lesbian, or criticizing Israel. What political or social issues do you hear about at your place of worship? Tell us about your experience in the comments. 🗣️👇 #PoliticalIssues #ReligiousServices #SocialIssues #FaithAndPolitics #ReligiousMessages #WorshipExperience #CommunityVoices #FaithAndSociety #ReligiousViews #SocialDiscussion
