  • Pomelo’s Head of Healthcare Economics, Adam Kubsh, and Keith Passwater, CEO of Havarti Risk, have published an article in the Society of Actuaries’ Health Watch exploring a critical question for payers: How do you know if a maternal health program is actually working? In “Measuring What Matters: An Episode-of-Care Approach to the Maternal Health Crisis,” Adam and Keith explore how episodes of care, trend analysis, propensity weighting, and population-level assessments can help payers more rigorously evaluate program impact. The piece makes the case for a more rigorous approach to measuring maternal health programs, one that combines methods like episodes of care, trend analysis, propensity weighting, and population-level assessments to understand whether an intervention is truly driving impact. Central to that approach is looking at the full maternal-newborn journey. Accurately measuring costs means linking mom and baby claims across prenatal care, delivery, postpartum, and the newborn period. Together, these methods give payers a more complete picture of total cost and program impact than traditional utilization metrics or PMPM analyses alone. • Pomelo Care has released new claims-based data presented at the 2026 annual meetings of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), the ISPOR—The Professional Society for Health Economics and Outcomes Research, and AcademyHealth's Annual Research Meeting (ARM). The findings demonstrate that Pomelo's virtual care model improves outcomes and reduces healthcare costs across the maternity lifecycle, from prenatal care and NICU utilization through postpartum and infant care. This data adds to Pomelo's growing body of evidence, which now includes more than 40 peer-reviewed studies showing that proactive, technology-enabled care improves maternal and neonatal outcomes, reduces healthcare utilization and costs, closes critical care gaps, and delivers measurable value for employers and health plans. Pomelo's virtual care model was associated with: • 45% shorter NICU stays • 63% reduction in NICU-related costs per delivery • $9,038 lower average total episode cost • 20% reduction in total infant healthcare costs • 10% reduction in infant emergency department costs • 82% increase in the odds of Timeliness of Prenatal Care (TOPC), as defined by HEDIS • 47% increase in the odds of Timely Postpartum Care (PPC), as defined by HEDIS Importantly, these results are based on medical claims data, not patient surveys, making them measurable and auditable within the same datasets employers and health plans use to track quality, utilization, and healthcare spend. • When we built Pomelo, we were inspired by a simple idea: the thick rind of the pomelo fruit, designed by nature to protect what's inside. Over the past five years, our virtual medical practice has expanded beyond pregnancy and postpartum to care for women and children across every stage of life. As our clinical reach grew, we realized we needed a visual identity that truly matched who we've become and how we take care of families every day. Today, we introduce the new Pomelo. Designed in partnership with Pentagram, our new look brings proactive care to life. Our custom logotype features connected letterforms that close care gaps—with an "m" that proactively reaches out to support the "e," symbolizing our commitment to connected, continuous care. Our adaptive Pom icon flexes around each family's changing health needs, while pomelo fruit-inspired colors and authentic photography bring human warmth to the clinical rigor behind our care. Traditional healthcare waits for a symptom, an appointment, or a crisis. Pomelo is built to deliver care that’s always one step ahead. Thank you to our partners at Pentagram for helping us translate our clinical philosophy into a brand built to grow alongside the families we serve. Our look has evolved, but our mission remains unchanged: to raise the standard of healthcare for every woman and child. • Today, ŌURA announced the launch of the Menopause Impact Scale (MIS), a new validated quality-of-life measure for menopause that is now live across care settings, including at Pomelo. MIS measures how menopause symptoms affect a patient’s daily life, complementing existing tools that assess symptom severity. The 22-item scale spans seven domains and was validated with more than 3,000 participants. At Pomelo, MIS gives our care teams an additional validated measure of symptom impact to consider alongside clinical assessment. We’re excited to partner with ŌURA to bring this new measure into menopause care. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gRxc62ng

Today, Oura is bringing the Menopause Impact Scale (MIS) beyond the Oura App and into the care and health experiences women already use. Through an expanding ecosystem of ten partners across specialty menopause care, primary and integrated women’s health, and hormone and biomarker tracking, new integrations of the MIS will help connect lived experience with longitudinal context for more informed clinical conversations over time. The MIS measures how menopause affects quality of life and daily functioning across 22 symptoms and seven domains. When combined with Oura’s continuous data on sleep, stress, recovery, and metabolic health, it helps create a more complete view of the menopause experience. We’re proud to work with Alloy Health, Gennev, Wisp, Pomelo Care, Maven Clinic, Tia, Xella Health, Oova, Mira, and Hertility as we help make menopause care more consistent, connected, and responsive to each individual’s experience. #WithOura https://lnkd.in/gfMGJcns

  • Last week, we took to the Chicago River with some local consultants and our event partners for an evening aboard the Odyssey. Stunning views of the skyline, great food and drinks, and even better conversation. Nights like these are a reminder of why the relationships we build with our broker partners matter so much. Thank you to everyone who joined us — including our cohosts Empathy, Hello Heart, Ilant Health, Kyan Health, Oshi Health, and Vori Health. We're grateful for the partnership and couldn't think of a better way to spend a Tuesday evening in Chicago. Lindy Gilkey LaTonia McGinnis, MPH, CCWS, TWCC Livi Gislason
