  • So proud of this team and the partners who make this work possible. We're hiring — come build with us: recidiviz.org/careers

Recidiviz was just named to Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies of 2026 — and I want to talk about who actually made this happen. Everything we build at Recidiviz is in partnership with corrections agencies. This recognition reflects their willingness to think differently about how technology can improve outcomes for the people who live and work in their systems. Over the past year, we launched a tablet app that gives incarcerated people personalized information about their sentences and the steps they can take to get home sooner. Nearly 40,000 people have already logged in. We also introduced an AI-powered Case Planning Assistant that helps case managers develop comprehensive reentry plans — saving them up to an hour per assessment. Since 2019, Recidiviz has helped safely accelerate over 250,000 people toward freedom and upward mobility across 19 states. None of that happens without the corrections leaders, case managers, parole officers, and residents who share their insights, push back when something isn't working, and think innovatively alongside us every day. We're proud to share this recognition with them. See more here: https://lnkd.in/gKHndPgz #FCMostInnovative

  • Too often, people leave incarceration without a clear path to the services they need — vital documents, benefits enrollment, employment support. For corrections agencies, these gaps show up as higher caseloads, more revocations, and worse outcomes. No single organization can solve this. That's why we're building a reentry resource network directly into the Case Planning Assistant — connecting people on supervision with vetted service providers at the moment those resources matter most. Today we're announcing our first partners: FreeWorld, mRelief, Center for Employment Opportunities and SkillUp Coalition. This is just the beginning. Read more on our blog: https://lnkd.in/guwhNWnP

  • On launch day for Colorado Department of Corrections' new Program Catalog, over 1,300 residents logged in and bookmarked nearly 4,700 programs within hours—browsing earned time eligibility and vocational training directly on their tablets. That's one of many updates shipped in February. Here's what else is new: Meeting Mode records officer-client meetings and auto-generates transcripts, summaries, and action items—so officers can stay focused on the person in front of them, not their notes. Our Sentence Projection Calculator encodes state sentencing statutes to generate projected release dates, giving time comp staff a high-speed starting point instead of manual math. And residents can now complete risk-needs self-assessments on their tablets, giving case managers richer information while freeing up interview time. Earlier this month at the American Correctional Association Winter Conference in Long Beach, I joined a panel to discuss how technology can better support reentry and education. One of our central themes was using AI to reduce the administrative load on case managers. If we treat AI as a high-capacity “recruit” that handles the paperwork—synthesizing notes or verifying resources—we can return that time to the high-impact, human-centered work that improves outcomes. I shared more reflections on the Recidiviz blog, including: - Moving beyond recidivism to track positive milestones like housing and salary growth. - How AI is enabling personalization of both case planning and educational learning pathways for people who are incarcerated.  - The necessity of "human-in-the-loop" frameworks for ethical AI in corrections. Thanks to Kristina Hartman for leading the discussion and to my fellow panelists (Elkanah Hendrix, Brooke Wheeler, Mark Spahr, Allan Wachendorfer) for a productive session. • How can we turn data into a feedback loop for criminal justice? 🔄 At Recidiviz, we use data to find what actually works and technology to ensure those insights reach the people who need them most. It’s about giving every person in the system—from agency leaders to incarcerated individuals—the tools they need to succeed. Arnold Ventures is supporting us to scale this work and transform the system from the inside out.

A new video shows how smarter use of data can create clearer paths to reentry, improve public safety, and change lives at scale. Arnold Ventures is proud to support Recidiviz on this work. Watch the full video to see how it works:

  • If you’re at the American Correctional Association Winter Conference in Long Beach today, stop by the "Leveraging Technology to Strengthen Education and Reentry" session at 2PM. Kirtana Choragudi will be discussing how states are using our technology to scale successful reentry—from AI that handles administrative bottlenecks for staff, to new tools that empower residents to track their own earned time and progress directly.

  • Shipping the tools corrections needs, today. 🚀 This month’s product updates include features designed in partnership with Parole and Probation Agents and their clients at Utah Department of Corrections, and incarcerated individuals and their Case Managers at Nebraska Department of Correctional Services and Tennessee Department of Correction. Read about how January’s updates are giving staff more flexibility in case management, and residents more information about their path out of the criminal justice system. https://lnkd.in/g2kAFk7b

  • Recidiviz is growing. We’re looking for people with ambition, a sense of urgency, and expertise in Product, Communications, Engineering, State Engagement, and Development. Check out our open roles and join the team. 👇 https://lnkd.in/g6kgJS7J

If you're a Product Leader who is bored by easy problems, apply within. At Recidiviz, our users are often people whose lives depend on the data we provide to decision-makers. The stakes are high, the data is messy, and the "market" is a complex web of government agencies. We need a Senior PM who can cut through that noise, make decisive calls, and lead a team that drives outcomes for people, communities, and systems. We’re looking for someone to help us build a more responsive, data-driven public sector from the ground up. If you're a Product Manager who thrives in high-stakes environments, let’s talk. https://lnkd.in/gKsQBBGP

  • How do we empower overstretched corrections staff to spend less time on manual paperwork and more time on human-centered rehabilitation? In a new episode of the When It Clicked podcast, our CEO Clementine Jacoby joins Ana Zamora to discuss why modernizing the justice system starts with supporting the people working inside it. Clementine explains how Recidiviz is shifting the paradigm for frontline staff: • Creating Shared Roadmaps: Our tools provide a roadmap to reentry so everyone can see the shortest, most rehabilitative path to freedom for an individual the moment they enter the system. • Automating Paperwork: By replacing manual processes with automated systems, officers can reclassify people with a single click, reducing caseloads and focusing their energy on the individuals who need the most support to succeed. • Scaling Social Work: In systems where case managers are responsible for 300 people, AI tools help scale their support by gathering comprehensive, individualized information that would otherwise take hundreds of hours to collect. By providing better data and more efficient tools, we can help prisons and probation offices do their jobs more effectively for everyone. 🎧 Listen to the full conversation here: https://lnkd.in/gM8TgZYi

  • AI advances public purpose when communities participate in its design and governance. With support from The Patrick J. McGovern Foundation, we are working alongside corrections leaders, staff, and currently and formerly incarcerated people to ensure everyone in the system has a personalized roadmap to reentry. We leverage AI to scale the support of case managers and tailor plans to the unique needs of each individual—ensuring people can successfully return home and stay there.

AI functions as civic infrastructure when communities have authority in its design and governance. This belief shapes our work. In 2025, the Patrick J. McGovern Foundation committed $75.8 million across 149 grants to organizations ensuring AI serves the public good. This represents one of the largest investments in public purpose AI globally. We allocate capital alongside in-house technical support, foster communities of practice that connect nonprofit leaders, researchers, and technologists across borders, and contribute community-led ideas to global policy processes that shape how countries approach AI governance. This is AI for public purpose. The continuous work of ensuring technology serves the people it affects, adapts to their needs, and remains accountable to their values is a collective and ongoing practice, proven by communities building the digital future they want to live in.
