For Cristian Valencia, Distribution Operations Associate, growing up between Colombian and American cultures taught him to appreciate different perspectives, something that carries into his work at Roku every day. 🇨🇴 🇺🇸 𝐐: 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐨 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮? Cristian: It's a chance to reflect on where I come from and the people and traditions that shaped me. Growing up between Colombian and American cultures taught me to appreciate different perspectives. 𝐐: 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐨 𝐑𝐨𝐤𝐮? Cristian: My love of movies is what brought me into media and technology in the first place. My wife jokes that I have a movie for every memory, rather than a memory of every movie. Roku stood out to me early on, when I got to know the company as a partner in a previous role. Using the product gave me real appreciation for how thoughtfully it was built and supported, so when the opportunity to join came up, it felt like a natural fit. 𝐐: 𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐨𝐫 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐮𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤? Cristian: My Abuela. She would take me to visit my great-grandfather's farm in Colombia, and seeing the coffee rows he planted still standing decades later taught me the value of leaving behind work that lasts. To me, true success is when the quality of our work and the impact we have on others outlives our time in the job. 💜 #WeAreRoku #SomosRoku #LatinoHeritageMonth

We are committed to inspiring inclusion through our global ERGs and partnerships with industry organizations that support our communities. ✨ Our #RokuPride ERG sent 10 delegates to the Out in Tech Leadership Institute in New York City. 🏳️🌈 They joined 600 LGBTQ+ leaders from across the tech industry for three days of executive-led workshops, small-group peer learning, and practical leadership tools. Our cohort brought together Pride ERG leaders and members from Austin, London, New York, and Toronto, giving Roku Pride members spread across three countries something rare: time in the same room. 💜 Thank you to our delegates for representing Roku, and a special thanks to Dino Johnson, Roku's DEI Program Manager, for leading this opportunity. ✨ #WeAreRoku

At Roku, we continue to sponsor initiatives focused on improving inclusion, equity, and representation at all levels—including this year's Empower Women in Tech Conference in Manchester. 💜 🇬🇧 We sponsored the Women Who Lead Track, where Gerardo (Jerry) Guerrero, CPA, MBA, Director of DEI, delivered a workshop on "The Advancement Playbook: Pulling the Right Levers to Move Your Career Forward." 🎤 "The energy and engagement throughout the workshop were incredible," he shared. "It was rewarding to see participants leave with a plan to advance." Neena M S, Sr. Software Engineer, spoke on "It's Okay to Press Pause," sharing her journey to show others it's okay to step away when needed. ⏸️ "It brought out a public speaker in me I didn't know was there," she said, "and reminded me that you are enough as you are." Ashling Mohamed, Recruiter, led our expo presence, engaging with delegates throughout the day and coming away having learned something new herself. ✨ 👏 Congratulations to Beckie Taylor, Natalie Asprey, and all the guest speakers and organizers for welcoming 300+ attendees to a day of learning, connection, and self-discovery. #WeAreRoku

Meet Greg Bustamante, Sr. Software Engineer on Roku's OS Platform UI: Live, Sports, and International team in Austin. 📺 He helped bring live sports scores to the Roku Home Screen and tiles, making the viewing experience more dynamic for millions of households. 📊 For Greg, thriving in a role like his means taking ownership of your features, tackling complex or contentious issues, and becoming a domain expert across multiple areas. 💡 He describes his team's culture as independent, dialectic, and globally connected. 🌐 Outside of the work itself, Greg says the Austin office is laid-back, inviting, and diverse, with plenty of space for heads-down focus and opportunities to connect during Roku Connection happy hours. 🤝 🍻 #WeAreRoku

#LatinoHeritageMonth looks different for everyone at Roku. ✨ We're asking members of our #SomosRokuERG what it means to them personally and professionally. For Brittani Salas, Program Operations Specialist, this month honors the strength, sacrifice, and traditions of the generations before her. 👪 Get to know Brittani and why her family has become her biggest source of inspiration. ⤵️ 𝐐: 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐨 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮? Brittani: My family has been in the U.S. for over 200 years. Despite humble beginnings as migrant farmers, they valued education, opportunity, and hard work while keeping our culture and traditions alive. This month is a chance to reflect on those roots—and to keep passing them on, just as my family did for me. 𝐐: 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐨 𝐑𝐨𝐤𝐮? Brittani: I've always gravitated toward roles where I can help people and solve problems. That drive brought me to Roku, where I get to do it at scale for a company known for innovation and growth. I've valued being part of a team that prioritizes collaboration and employee experience. 𝐐: 𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐨𝐫 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐮𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤? Brittani: Watching my family work hard and care deeply for others taught me the value of kindness and showing up for people. Whether I'm supporting employees or helping a colleague through a challenge, nothing is more rewarding than knowing I made a positive difference in someone's day. 💜 #WeAreRoku #SomosRoku

Innovation doesn't happen in a vacuum. 🚀 The best ideas get better when more people can help shape them. Today, we're opening up two new ways to do exactly that: ➜ #RokuLabs gives viewers early access to experimental, in-development features straight from our engineers and innovators. Test new experiences, share feedback, and have a direct voice in what we build. 💻 Roku City Dash has already graduated from Labs, while Roku Stocks, Roku Weather, Backdrops Studio, and Roku Immerse are in testing now. 🧪 ➜ Roku LT OS is now open source—the lightweight operating system that powers the Roku remote and Roku Smart Home. ⚙️ With the source code, development kit, and video training series all free, developers and makers can build, refine, and bring their own ideas to life. ⚒️ ✨ We're also continuing to evolve the streaming experience: the Roku Home Screen is expanding to Brazil and Mexico, smarter search with personalized explanations, new Premium Subscription bundles, and Roku Voice growing into a more capable on-screen assistant. Because the future of streaming shouldn't just be built for people. It should be shaped with them. 🔗 Read more in the press release: https://lnkd.in/esqbzGA5
