Rothera surpassed 5 billion contracts traded on our exchange this September, marking a significant milestone in under four months after launch. During the World Cup, we executed 3.44 billion contracts. Since the tournament's conclusion, we’ve gradually expanded our listed markets across and within categories while scaling our infrastructure and operations to confidently accelerate our growth. In Q4, we will continue to add markets in sports, elections, finance and economics, and crypto. We’re excited to keep building on our strong launch momentum.

  • Wall Street is paying close attention to prediction markets, and there’s a growing opportunity for firms to incorporate event contracts into their trading strategies. Rothera President and Co-Founder Matt Trudeau will discuss the forces driving this shift at DealFlow Events upcoming conference, PREDICT 2026. Institutional investors, trading firms, and market-makers are increasingly treating event contract markets as serious risk management tools – and the panel digs into what's driving that shift and what still has to fall into place for broader adoption. Matt Trudeau, President and Co-Founder of Rothera, joins the FIA, Inc.'s Commodities Conference in Houston on September 28 as part of a panel on how commercial hedgers can use event contract markets tied to geopolitics, macroeconomic indicators, weather and other factors that move commodity prices. The discussion comes as the industry begins to introduce event-driven markets alongside traditional hedging tools for commodities participants – and how these new instruments are complementary. • As Rothera began building, the 2026 World Cup – then only a few months away – stood out as a natural launch opportunity on the calendar. Meeting that timeline meant choosing infrastructure built for a multilateral, CLOB-based market with technology that could handle significant trading volumes 24/7. Rothera selected Adaptive's Aeron Exchange Accelerator for its low-latency, high-throughput architecture and the flexibility to extend the platform without ceding ownership of the roadmap or the underlying IP. Within a few months from launch, the platform had processed 3.44 billion contracts – nearly 6% of all US event contract market volume. Read the case study: https://lnkd.in/g-AvJPJc

The biggest opportunities for event contract markets may have little to do with sports. Tom Chippas and Matt Trudeau, Co-Founders of Rothera, recently joined IEX's Boxes and Lines podcast to talk about where event contracts fit for institutions. Sports contracts may dominate trading volume today, but Tom and Matt see that as a narrow slice of what these products can actually do. Institutions today are often forced to choose between liquid exchange-traded products that merely approximate risk and bespoke OTC hedges that match it precisely but trade rarely. Event contracts offer a way to close that gap, giving institutions a path to tailored exposure without leaving the exchange. Listen to the full episode: https://lnkd.in/g29EMUaw
