This year's FIFA World Cup generated more economic activity for the Bay Area than the National Football League (NFL) Super Bowl LX did, beating projections by $300 million, according to the Bay Area Host Committee and Boston Consulting Group (BCG). The six matches that played out in Santa Clara's Levi's® Stadium, which included the U.S. victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina, produced $850 million in financial gains for the region. Bay Area Host Committee CEO Zaileen Janmohamed credits increased visitor spending and decentralized watch parties. The host committee is now seeking permanent funding, and San Francisco's next marquee sporting events are the 2027 WNBA (Women's National Basketball Association) All-Star Game and the 2028 Major League Baseball (MLB) All-Star Game.
