Building Indiana's infrastructure, economy, public health, community, and more

About us

State government is more than senators, representatives, and elected officials. We build highways, provide drivers licenses, protect our children and vulnerable populations, create jobs, connect Hoosiers to job opportunities, maintain state parks, train law enforcement officers, and we run museums and hospitals. We also provide unemployment insurance, disability, and workers compensation, among countless other services. We're 30,000 strong and still have more work to do. • “Affordability is my top priority, and my gas tax suspensions have delivered immediate tax relief and some of the cheapest gas in America for Hoosier families. I'm delivering relief for Hoosier farmers by lifting special fuel restrictions to help ease the burden, and providing relief from high gas prices to keep more money in Hoosiers’ pockets and make life more affordable.” — Governor Mike Braun

The new Indiana State Archives building is officially open! Governor Mike Braun joined IDOA Commissioner Jon Ferguson, Indiana Archives and Records Administration Executive Director Chandler Lighty, state leaders, project partners and guests for the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The nearly 130,000-square-foot building was designed around the important work of the Archives. With four floors of shelving for 90,000 cubic feet of records, the new facility provides modern space to preserve Indiana’s history and welcoming areas where Hoosiers can conduct research and experience exhibits. Guests also received a first look at “Indiana’s Foundations of Independence, 1776–1851.” Marking America 250 and the 175th anniversary of Indiana’s 1851 Constitution, the exhibit uses original documents to explore how America’s founding ideals shaped Indiana government and Hoosier life. IDOA is proud to have managed this capital project. Thank you to the IDOA Public Works and IARA teams; Chris Rayner, Jacob Ellis and the Pepper Construction team; Bill Browne and the team at RATIO; Jason Larrison and J.S. Held; Guidon Design; KBSO Consulting; Fink Roberts & Petrie; and the many others whose years of work made this building possible. We are excited to see Indiana’s stories preserved, shared and experienced in their new home.
