History has been made by Stratolaunch, a hypersonic flight test research company headquartered in Mojave, California. The fully autonomous Talon-A2, equipped with landing gear, has successfully exceeded speeds of Mach five and completed its second autonomous landing at Vandenburg Space Force Base. This mission documentary follows the first recovered flight of TA-2, the result of five years of effort and dedication marking a pivotal moment in sustainable hypersonic flight test for our country. Congratulations to the Stratolaunch team and partners on this success! Next steps: fly TA-2 again and again, increasing the cadence of hypersonic flight tests for the United States. Team Stratolaunch competed in its first Aerospace Games this past weekend, facing off against 56 other aerospace companies from across Southern California. We finished 17th overall and had a blast competing as a team and proudly representing Stratolaunch. Thanks to every team that brought energy, sportsmanship and a competitive spirit. We are already looking forward to next year!

During their visit, we shared updates on our hypersonic flight program and discussed California’s critical role in supporting aerospace development and innovation. Stratolaunch President and CEO Dr. Zachary Krevor met with Rep. Vince Fong to discuss the company's contributions to California's status as a top aerospace state, driving U.S. innovation, research and design. Stratolaunch's operations heavily rely on California infrastructure including Mojave Air & Space Port where the Talon-A2 vehicle recently completed multiple hypersonic test flights, including two fully autonomous landings and recoveries at Vandenberg Space Force Base. These flights mark the first time a reusable hypersonic aircraft landed autonomously, positioning California's role at the forefront of this critical technology.

Today marks the 66th anniversary of the X-15's first flight, a pioneering moment in reusable hypersonic aircraft development. The X-15 laid the groundwork for understanding hypersonic flight, today our Talon-A2 builds on that heritage, offering the nation a critical capability for rapid, affordable hypersonic testing. We are ushering in a new era of reusable hypersonic flight.
