CALL FOR PROPOSALS: Aligned Skills Curriculum and Experiential Network Design Framework (ASCEND) Initiative The United States Department of War (DoW) Office of the Chief Information Officer’s (DoW CIO’s) Cyber Academic Engagement Office (#CAEO) is seeking innovative proposals for the ASCEND initiative. With the objective of engaging with academia to deliver measurable, scalable, and repeatable cyber workforce outcomes aligned to national security priorities, ASCEND is a high-stakes competition to identify and fund the most forward-thinking educational models. A select group of finalists will be invited to participate in a live public defense of their framework design concept in front of a panel of senior DoW judges, academic mentors, and a live audience on May 1st in Pittsburgh, immediately after the Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (CAE-C) Symposium. Winners will receive a cash prize and mentorship from leading academics through the entire grant lifecycle, from initial curriculum design and development to the creation of a competitive grant proposal for the DoW. Proposed frameworks should be comprehensive educational models targeting an area of AI designed for learners with no prior experience, such as first-year college students, non-cyber majors, or professionals who are re-skilling from other fields. We invite you to submit a 2–4-page descriptive proposal outlining your vision for an ASCEND framework. This document will be used to evaluate and select the finalists for the showcase event.
