Last night, Kristen Faulkner, OLY took the Rillet stage in our SF HQ to tell us about her journey to the Olympic podium. As a former Investor at a VC firm, Kristen is no stranger to the startup scene. We are, however, strangers to biking in harsh weather conditions, surviving crashes, and winning gold on the world’s biggest stage (twice). We have much to learn from Kristen, who made it to Harvard, bet on herself when she traded in her career to pursue professional cycling, and stuck to a strict training regime to maintain her composure ahead of competing. She spoke on the emotional intelligence required to succeed in cycling, her thoughts headed into the LA Olympics, and her ask to the world: watch and elevate women’s sports. We have a feeling we’ll be seeing more of Kristen in the years to come. We can’t wait to root her on from the sidelines. Special thanks to a16z and Stifel Financial Corp. for co-hosting the event, Kristen-themed macaroons and all. Stay tuned for our next fireside chat. We can’t promise another F1 driver or Olympic medalist...actually maybe we can. 😉

Rillet CEO Nicolas Kopp at our CFO Summit the other week: Your next great finance hire might not be an accountant. They might be someone who has never touched a general ledger in their life. His exact words: "A systems affinity or data pipeline affinity may be more important than a very technical background in a certain set of lease accounting rules." The accounting talent pipeline tells that same story. 75% of CPAs nearing retirement. Accounting majors down from 4% to 1.4% in a decade. 300,000+ left since 2020. AI automates 93%+ of manual accounting. Staffing giant Robert Half already tracks titles like "cognitive accountant" and "real-time financial data engineer" - roles that were engineering jobs five years ago. We saw this in sales. 15 SDRs replaced by 3 people managing systems and exceptions. Finance is next. It's not because the people aren't good enough - the work itself is changing. Your staff accountant used to spend four days on bank recs. Now that role is about knowing when the auto-match is wrong. Your analyst used to spend a week marrying CRM data with financials for a board deck. Now that role is about interrogating the output and telling the CEO what it means for next quarter. Your rev rec specialist memorized ASC 606. Now that role is about knowing when the system doesn't match the economic reality of a non-standard deal. Same shift every time: procedures to systems, execution to judgment. That is a Scaler. I interviewed at Stripe over a decade ago. They asked if I coded or sold anything. I said finance. They said “We have accountants. No job for you.” That was finance = narrow technical execution. Today the best finance operators bridge judgment with systems thinking. If you're hiring: look sideways. Your best accounting hire might come from data engineering, BizOps, or cross-functional FP&A. If your posting leads with "3+ years public accounting required," you're fishing in a pond that shrank 17%. Stop hiring for what the job was. Hire for what it BECAME.

Aura Flow, Rillet's AI workflow builder, launched 3 few weeks ago. Here's what our customers are building: Every Monday at 7 am, one customer has a scheduled workflow: "Pull revenue vs. budget, top 5 expense movers, and current cash runway. Draft a 3-paragraph narrative summary and email it to the exec team." The CFO provides a useful update. Zero time spent by the team aggregating the data. On the last day of every month, another customer runs a scheduled workflow: "Run the deferred revenue roll-forward for the month. Pull active contracts, calculate earned vs. deferred by period, and post the recognition journal entries." The most manual ASC 606 task in most closes. Automated end to end. These are just a few examples of the real workflows built by real customers. We documented the full list, with the exact prompts, cadences, and agents behind each one. I joined stephen hedlund and Brock Beyer on Rillet's vibe coding webinar again this morning, and in front of about 400 people I built a 13-week cash forecast from scratch with no idea if it would actually work. In a one-hour session, I was able to get an executive summary, scenario toggles (worst/base/best), weekly cash flow charts, balance trend, overdue AR flags, one-click Excel export, all connected to a Rillet sandbox with a real-time data feed. And it's not just a nice dashboard, it actually worked. What a world...

Big news: Rillet + Zapier are officially integrated 🎉 Rillet already automates the core of your financial operations natively: GL sync, month-end close, reconciliations, approval routing, and predictive cash flow. That's not new. That's what we were built for. What's new? Now all of that intelligence extends across 8,000+ apps through Zapier's orchestration platform. So whether your team lives in Slack, your project management tool, or something more niche, Rillet's AI agents can now reach it. Finance teams at fast-growing companies have been stuck in an awkward spot for too long. Legacy ERPs built for a pre-AI world. Months-long implementations. Heavy consultant fees. AI features bolted onto 20th-century accounting software that don't actually change how work gets done. That ends today. Read about the partnership: https://lnkd.in/gC_db2Tj

Pre-built reports answer pre-built questions. Datalab answers yours. Datalab, Rillet’s custom report builder, now understands plain English. Type what you actually want to know: "Show me expenses for Salesforce by department and month." "Revenue by GL account last quarter." "Unpaid invoices by customer." Get a table instantly. Drill into any number to see the line items behind it. Save reports to come back to. Power Tables gives you full control over how data is displayed across all your reports. Reorder, resize, and pin columns. Filter by entry type, account groups, sub-groups, and subsidiaries. Copy and paste directly into Excel. Reports just how you need them.

Brock Beyer built his own desk hoteling software with Lovable. His company now uses it daily. Saved $20k in one weekend. Dave Wieseneck showed me the procurement feature he vibe-coded last week and is now sharing with the Ramp engineering team to push to production. It's insane. On April 7th, I'll be joined by Brock and Dave Wieseneck to show you how to build an AI-first finance stack. No coding skills required, and we'll hand you scripts you can use immediately. This is going to be real, hands-on and immediately actionable. Also, Ramp is buying you lunch ($35 Uber Eats if you attend the whole thing). April 7. 11am CDT. Sure Our Rillet Recon sponsor lineup does not disappoint. Next up: Ramp If you're in finance, you already know Ramp. They've built the expense and spend management platform that actually makes controllers' lives easier. Real-time visibility, automated reconciliation, cards that close the loop without the back-and-forth. They didn't just build a better corporate card. They rethought what it means to have control over your company's money. That obsession with removing friction from financial operations is exactly why they belong at Rillet Recon. The finance leaders in that room are asking the same questions Ramp is building answers to: how do you run a leaner, faster, more intelligent finance function? What does the stack actually look like when you're not dragging spreadsheets around? Rillet Recon is on April 28th in NYC. One day, ~200 CFOs, controllers, and finance operators are having the conversations that don't happen at the big conferences. The ones about what's actually working, what's breaking, and where the function is going next. SF last year sold out fast and then some. NYC is bigger. Spots are still moving. If you're a finance leader and want a seat in the room, join the waitlist: https://lnkd.in/e9VEcBVg

Your income statement. In Google Sheets. Live. No exports. No copy-paste. No "can you send me the latest P&L?" Rillet's Reporting API connects directly to Google Sheets via a simple Apps Script. Paste the script, add your API key, and run it once. From there: → Refresh on demand → Or schedule it to update automatically Finance teams can build whatever they want on top of real-time data from Rillet: custom dashboards, board decks, budget vs. actuals. Without ever leaving the spreadsheet they already live in. Setup takes about 5 minutes. No coding experience required. Already on Rillet? Reach out to your CSM to get started. Speaking of CSMs, our very own CSM Joe O'Toole built this connector. One of the many benefits of having a team that truly understands its audience!
