Turner Brothers is proud to have completed the concrete scope on a new UPS distribution facility in Grafton, MA, developed by Prologis and built under general contractor Layton Construction. The scope, in numbers: 850,000 square feet. 52,000 cubic yards of concrete, 28,000 CY interior, 24,000 CY exterior. More than 650,000 square feet of exterior paving. Roughly 5,200 to 5,800 concrete truckloads. A 15-foot elevation change managed across the site. All delivered on a 13-month schedule. The interior slab was finished to FF 105.9 / FL 60.0, a level of flatness and levelness that goes well beyond typical industrial standards and gives this facility's automated systems the precision they run on. Today was a fantastic day for Building Mass Careers at the AGC MA Building Advancement Externship for high school teachers and administrators. The AGC MA Building Advancement Externship (BAE) is one of Massachusetts’ most innovative workforce development initiatives, designed to immerse high school teachers, guidance counselors, administrators, and vocational educators in the commercial construction industry. Rather than a traditional classroom workshop, it is a five-day industry externship where educators visit active construction projects, contractor offices, training facilities, and meet industry leaders. The goal is to equip educators with firsthand knowledge they can bring back to their schools and students. It was an honor to present alongside outstanding industry partners including Optiline Enterprises, Turner Brothers Concrete, and Erland Construction. Together, we shared how education and the construction industry can work hand in hand to inspire the next generation of skilled professionals. When educators have the opportunity to experience our industry firsthand, they return to their classrooms with a new appreciation for the incredible careers available in construction—from the skilled trades to project management, engineering, and executive leadership.
