  • Just over a year after Yves Veggie Cuisine announced it was disappearing for good—and nine months since it was acquired by Maple Leaf Foods—the beloved iconic brand is making a comeback. Customer favorites like the ground round, ham, bologna, and turkey are all hitting store shelves this week, but only in Canada (for now). Welcome back, Yves!

  • Our 2026 VegNews Restaurant Awards are here, and the voting is ON! In Oakland, a new all-mushroom restaurant is serving up KFC-style bowls and saucy lasagna to hungry weekend diners. In Orlando, a 100-percent vegan Cuban spot is racking up local awards for its sour orange-lime-marinated mojo pork and Malecón-style fish sandwiches. And all across the country, eateries are bringing next-level plant-based eats (think Texas toast tuna melts in Detroit, Indian-Mediterranean fusion in Los Angeles, and caviar-stuffed croissants in Manhattan) to hungry vegan and veg-curious diners alike, proving beyond a doubt that plant-powered eating is still, indeed, hot. • On July 1, VegNews celebrated 26 years. What started as a monthly newspaper for the vegan community has evolved into a global media brand with an award-winning magazine, around-the-clock digital content, a thriving social media community, and even international vacations. When we launched VegNews, we never could have imagined where we would be 26 years later—but it hasn't been easy. Read our publisher and co-founder Colleen Holland's special anniversary message here! Good news from the restaurant world—the iconic Millennium Restaurant in Northern California is reopening on June 17 with an entirely new concept. “The current economic climate for restaurants is incredibly challenging, particularly in California. Creatively, our goal is to design a new model that allows us to maintain our culinary standards while operating a sustainable and resilient business.” The VegNews story --> https://lnkd.in/gBUM5eFr

  • Trader Joe’s is beloved because of great products, quirky branding, and Hawaiian shirts. But it’s also loved because the grocery chain mastered the art of restraint—offering fewer choices, smaller stores, and just enough surprise to make shopping feel effortless and personal. VegNews dives into the psychology behind one of America's favorite grocery stores. "Trader Joe’s has become one of the most paradoxical success stories in American grocery retail: a billion-dollar business built not on abundance but restraint. While the typical supermarket carries upward of 50,000 items, Trader Joe’s keeps its shelves stocked with only around 4,000. That includes everything from basics like peanut butter and bread to offbeat house-label hits like pickle-flavored popcorn and soy chorizo." The VegNews story --> https://lnkd.in/g89Yp5KT
