What does having influence actually make possible? Last week, I had the opportunity to deliver a keynote at the Executiv Women in Leadership Summit on a question I've been thinking about a lot lately. what does having influence mean, and what we choose to do with it. For a long time, I thought influence was something you earned through achievement. I see it very differently now. Influence is the ability to create choices. For yourself, and eventually, for other people in your life. And that is one of the reasons I care so deeply about women building wealth. Money isn’t just something to accumulate. At some point, wealth becomes a choice. The choice to take a risk. To walk away. To support someone you love. To build something of your own. To decide what happens next. Standing in a room filled with women building companies, leading teams and shaping industries made that question feel even more important. What becomes possible for someone else because of you? Thank you to Samira Amin Udugampola and the Executiv team for having me take the stage. And thank you to my Wealthsimple Wealth Management colleagues and leaders who came out to support the day and have real conversations with women about money and wealth, including Tara Kennedy, Zoe Wolpert, Shruti Dabas, CFP®, CIM® and Silvi Pukitis Woods, CFA, CFP!!

  • Our monthly series The Trade Show should most definitely be on your watchlist by now. On October 1 at 12pm ET, we're getting physical. Talking physical AI, that is, with Raquel Urtasun, the founder and CEO of Waabi. She taught trucks to drive themselves, and now she’ll teach us how they’re going to drive the markets. • Your group plan might be working exactly as designed. And that could be a problem. To find out where group plans were going wrong, we asked 1,460 young Canadians what they actually want from their employers. And most of the issues they raised are easily solvable with a few key changes you can make right now. On September 29, Gren Austin and Frances Policarpio are walking through five of them, including how to make the employer match feel more tangible, where the group RRSP falls short, and what employees are really saving for* (spoiler: it’s not retirement.) Register now and send us your questions. We answer as many as we can live. 📅 Tuesday, September 29 at 2pm ET Free to attend. Recorded if you can’t make it live. Register here: https://bit.ly/4hu94Lm *Based on a Wealthsimple survey of 1,460 employed Canadians aged 18 to 46, June 2026.

  • Who’s going to Elevate?

Excited to join the Elevate stage this week. Canada is on the edge of the biggest change to its financial system in a generation. Real-time payments, open banking, and a domestic stablecoin are all in motion. All of this is happening while personal AI assistants and LLMs are changing the way we make decisions. At Wealthsimple, we're at the forefront of pushing the industry forward. Stefanie Marotta from The Globe and Mail and I are going to dig into what it actually means for Canadians and a more competitive financial services sector. We’ll be chatting this Wednesday at 1020am. See you there!

  • 37% of Canadian employees under 46 are saving for a first home. But only 1% have access to an FHSA through work.* That’s just one of the gaps we uncovered by polling 1,460 young Canadians on what they really want from their group savings plan. 📅 On September 29 at 2pm ET, Frances Policarpio and Gren Austin are unpacking all the findings —  and showing you exactly what to do to build the kind of group plan your employees actually value. If you want to attract and retain the best talent, this is one not to miss. It’s free to attend, and recorded if you can’t make it live.
