After 1,100 podcast episodes, one lesson surprised me: health was never the destination. I spent years trying to improve my life on paper. Somewhere along the way, I started learning to love the life I actually had. Growth still matters. But I’m learning I don’t have to postpone enjoying my life until everything is figured out. In this solo episode, I reflect on health, identity, and who we are beyond the roles we hold. What have you stopped treating as a prerequisite for happiness? https://lnkd.in/eQxA_nJE

It's very unexpected since I live in the United States, the “land of plentiful food.” Yet the current mindset around eating and what we learned in school is failing big time. I decided to research this further. A review of studies about the long-term outcomes of calorie restricted diets showed 1/3 to 2/3 people gained more weight than they lost on the diet. What's going on here? Healthy choices are available but people aren't choosing them. I envisioned the Wellness Mama community to come together to solve this. Most importantly, we’re here to make sure our kids grow up in a healthier world. One not poisoned by plastic chemicals and toxic foods. What are the results? WellnessMama.com is the #1 online resource for naturally minded moms. Our founder was featured on Fox News Carol Alt Show. We've been recognized by mainstream news outlets like Fox and Slate. I know you’ve probably seen hypochlorous acid all over social media lately But did you know I use it for everything from skinned knees to nipple care? I’ve used it in my home for years, and in this episode, I’m talking with Justin Gardner about what it is and why it’s become such a staple for our family. https://lnkd.in/e7pxair9

Our children learn from how we respond when things don’t go as planned, including how we take responsibility afterward. In part two of my conversation with psychologist Dr. Laurie Emery, we explore modeling, boundaries, and repair. One distinction I appreciated: we can acknowledge that our response wasn’t helpful while still holding someone accountable for their actions. It’s something I’m continuing to learn as a parent, and it reaches into our other relationships, too. https://lnkd.in/ehn-NeCf

Sometimes making the most of what we have starts with what we’re about to throw away. When we carve pumpkins or cook winter squash, I save the seeds. A little olive oil, seasoning, and oven time turns them into a crunchy snack. A simple kitchen habit that stretches ingredients a little further. Butternut and acorn squash seeds work too. Here’s my recipe: https://lnkd.in/ef-jpgks

What do children learn from watching us admit we were wrong? Laila Ali joined me on the podcast, and one part of our conversation stayed with me: her willingness to apologize to her kids. We talked about giving children room to speak respectfully, expecting to be heard, and discovering interests that may differ from what we imagined for them. Those practices matter in families. They matter in teams, too. What did an adult do that helped you feel comfortable speaking up? Listen to the full conversation here- https://lnkd.in/eUti532a

Being capable can quietly turn into being the default person for everything. Then delegation becomes difficult. You hand something off, watch it happen differently, and step back in. In this podcast conversation, Christine Hassler and I explore over-functioning and the ways achievement can become tied to our sense of worth. (Full episode - https://lnkd.in/eduBtiBT) One useful starting point: notice the urge to take over before acting on it. Clarify the agreement, make room for a different approach, and expect follow-through. Where do you notice yourself taking work back after delegating it?

Did you grow up hearing “tilt your head back” when you had a nosebleed? The recommended approach is to sit upright, lean forward, and pinch the soft part of the nose for 10–15 minutes. As a mom, I appreciate practical health information that’s easy to remember when a child needs help. In this post, I’m sharing common nosebleed triggers, ways to help prevent them, and when to seek medical care. What’s a first-aid tip you learned as an adult that you wish you’d known sooner? https://lnkd.in/esjqtChr

When your phone battery is low, adding another app doesn’t help. I love that analogy for how we approach our own energy. It’s easy to keep adding things to the routine without looking at how much of the day we spend indoors. Morning light and little breaks outside are habits I keep coming back to. Sometimes that simply means taking a call outdoors. In today’s solo episode, I share my everyday light routine and what I’ve noticed in my energy and sleep. What helps you recharge during the workday? Full episode: https://lnkd.in/eENqb5-Y
