What should happen to CCA-treated timber trellis posts when they reach the end of their useful life? With an estimated 10,300 to 26,100 tonnes of CCA-treated timber posts removed from Australian vineyards each year, it is important to find practical and environmentally sound end-of-life solutions. Wine Australia is part of the project team developing a national stewardship framework to explore potential solutions, including end-of-life pathways, alternative materials and options for a future stewardship scheme. Join the first online information session on 18 November to learn more about the project and how you can contribute to the development of the framework. When: Wednesday, 18 November, 2:30pm – 3:30pm AEDT Where: Zoom Register: https://lnkd.in/gJ-xpPfw

Aaron Ridgway attended ProWine São Paulo earlier this month, where Eduardo Milan, wine critic and taster, led a masterclass on Classic and Contemporary Australia to a full house. The guided tasting included classic Australian styles along with some of the innovative expressions that are redefining Australian wine today, with wines from d’Arenberg, Vasse Felix, Unico Zelo, Angove, Dandelion Vineyards and Yalumba. There is excitement and optimism among importers working with Australian wines already, and a strong willingness to learn more about the category and share that with Brazilian trade and consumers. d'Arenberg Vasse Felix Unico Zelo Angove Family Winemakers Dandelion Vineyards Yalumba ProWine São Paulo Gabrielle Hall

Help shape the future of Australia's grapevine planting material 🌱 Wine Australia is inviting nominations for an independent Chair and Membership of the Australian Grapevine Standards Committee that will support VitiCert Australia — the new national certification program giving growers greater confidence in the vines they plant. The committee will bring together industry representatives to provide independent oversight and guidance of Australia's grapevine propagation standards and practices. Its activities will help ensure that grapevine planting material remains high quality, traceable and trusted by industry, while supporting continuous improvement across Australia's grapevine propagation and vine improvement systems. Find out more and apply for the position of Independent Chair or to be a committee member here: https://lnkd.in/dM5ASFAy

After identifying market potential in Poland, as documented in our Market Bulletin: Five reasons why Poland is a wine market to watch, Wine Australia hosted a trade tasting and masterclass on Australian Wines in Warsaw as part of its European roadshow with New Zealand Wine in early October. The Warsaw trade activity was described as the highlight of the roadshow, with the masterclass so full even standing room was taken! Wine Australia analysts noted that Poland’s gross domestic product is forecast to grow by 3% this year alone, which is the strongest growth rate of any of the ten largest economies in the EU. 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗺 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 The Office of the Agent General of South Australia team is making strong inroads into the Polish market for South Australian trade and investment. Poland is an increasingly important market for South Australian wine, and it’s fantastic to see Polish wine distributors doing such a superb job of getting some of South Australia’s best-loved wine labels onto restaurant lists and wine store shelves. The South Australian Agent General, Hon. Leon Bignell and South Australia’s Minister for Trade, Chris Picton alongside the Chief Executive of the Department of State Development, Adam Reid recently hosted a South Australian Wine Lunch with some of Poland’s leading wine distributors. A very special thank you to the Australian Ambassador to Poland, H.E. Benjamin Hayes, and to DFAT Poland and Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) Poland for the warm welcome and extensive support that helped make the event such a success. And, the momentum continued. Just two weeks later, the OAG's Trade Director for South Australia, Vanessa McKinney, was back in market supporting 𝟮𝟰 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀 at the Wine Australia European Roadshow in Warsaw. The event was oversubscribed across both the masterclasses and tastings, with plenty of excitement and strong interest in South Australian wine throughout the room. Finally, a big thank you to all our South Australian wine producers who participated across both events. It’s terrific to see the momentum building in Poland. Over 110,000 bottles of Australian wine were sold through the LCBO across Ontario during a Middle Nesting Table Activation in July/August. This reflects a 17.9% increase in Year-on-Year sales of Australian wine for the period at the LCBO, with an 82% average sales lift across participating stores. Over 6,000 samples were distributed through an in-store tasting campaign, featuring 36 wines, with over 1,800 bottles sold during the tastings. This program was a partnership between Wine Australia, the LCBO and participating wineries, and was supported by the Accessing New Markets Initiative (ANMI) to amplify the campaign across digital, social media and in-store tastings. #Wine Australia #Austrade #ANMI

Happy Fiano Day! Originating from the Campania region in southern Italy, Fiano has since made a home for itself in Australia, where it shines in Australian soil, holding onto its bright acidity with little water inputs and a higher-than-average tolerance for the heat. Last year's Fiano Festa campaign by Mastermind Consulting and Oliver's Taranga Vineyards, which initiated Fiano Day, achieved an approximate reach of 2.7 million, with a reported 24.5k social media interactions and a 58% increase in Google searches for Fiano wine. Join in the celebrations and enjoy a glass of Australian Fiano this Fiano Day.
