The WBD bidding surge signals more than interest in media. It reflects a shift in how capital evaluates opportunity. When several global buyers reach a second round of binding offers for a company with studio assets, streaming operations and international distribution, it shows investors are prepared to handle complex structures again. That matters across the broader market. This type of activity often moves ahead of wider private equity confidence. Analysts, miners, RWA leadership teams and informed investors track these signals closely. When capital becomes comfortable with complexity, hiring acceleration is typically next. Firms begin reinforcing executive teams, upgrading capabilities and preparing for growth. The takeaway is clear. Executives who bring investor fluency, transformation experience and disciplined scaling capability will be prioritised as momentum builds. This is a moment to prepare, not pause. Market signals are moving and leadership expectations will rise with them.

Radio’s Hidden Digital Margin Crisis As radio group revenue continues to decline, digital has been rolled out as the savior of legacy media to offset declining ratings and aging audiences as industry executives pivoted to streaming, programmatic ads, and podcasting but research shows they are playing with the facts. iHeart CEO Bob Pittman has frequently hammered the importance of digital even as the much smaller Townsquare delivered higher digital revenue percentages than his company (over 50%). But then lately even Townsquare hit the digital wall getting caught up in CEO Bill Wilson’s “dis” of the radio industry being the cause of Townsquare’s problems. Podcasting took over and occupied an alternate world even though in this world short attention spans made it impossible for podcasts to compete with radio let alone TikTok and impossible to offer enough commercial avails. Littered with bankruptcies, the radio industry is still missing the point about if and where digital, podcasting and video fits in to its future – look no further than the gross margin comparisons for a wakeup call. Stage 32, Evoke Entertainment Team To Fast-Track Emerging Rom-Com Writers With Contest Stage 32 is teaming up with Evoke Entertainment to scout the next great romantic-comedy writer with a new screenwriting contest. With the partnership, Stage 32’s global entertainment community platform and Evoke’s production arm are solidifying their partnership with the Rom-Com Screenwriting Contest, a first-of-its-kind talent incubator which fast-track emerging writers from discovery to professional development and production. Submissions are open in February, with Evoke participating in judging for the final round, reviewing semi-finalist’s loglines and reading all 10 finalists’ scripts. Semi-finalists will be announced June 19, with finalists on July 3 and the winner on July 24, chosen based on creativity and commercial viability. Evoke will fast-track the winner’s script into development, packaging for buyers across studios, streamers and networks, while Stage 32 will provide comprehensive script development support. “This partnership with Evoke creates a real on-ramp for writers to go from undiscovered to produced and is directly aligned with our mission to make the entertainment industry more accessible and meritocratic,” said Geoffroy Faugerolas, head of development at Stage 32. Evoke CEO Stan Spry, who co-founded the literary management and production company previously known as Cartel Entertainment, said, “We’ve been producing rom-coms for over a decade, and in that time, demand for feel-good content has only grown. Under the deal, CMG will provide global distribution, tech, and marketing support, partnering with Star Trak co-founder Rob Walker. New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) New Jersey Film Academy:Reclaiming the state’s cinematic heritage by Garden State Film Festival Founder and New Jersey Film Academy Executive Director Diane Raver Long before Hollywood became synonymous with American cinema, New Jersey was the epicenter of the film industry. Thomas Edison pioneered motion pictures in Menlo Park, and Fort Lee boasted 49 film studios where groundbreaking director Alice Guy-Blaché, first woman director and studio owner, invented the narrative film format. Now, through the New Jersey Pathways to Career Opportunities Initiative, the Garden State is reclaiming its cinematic legacy by building a robust pipeline of skilled film and television workers through its community college system. A statewide training network The New Jersey Film Academy has established an impressive network of 13 community colleges, with Brookdale Community College serving as the lead institution. This partnership model includes Atlantic Cape, Bergen County Community College, Camden County College, Essex County College, Hudson County Community College, Mercer County Community College, Middlesex Community College, County College of Morris, Raritan Valley Community College, Rowan College of South Jersey, Sussex County Community College and Union College of Union County. The academy has also forged partnerships with four-year institutions including Rutgers and Fairleigh Dickinson University, plus Red Bank Regional High School.
