I had recently started a new job in banking when the events of 9/11 unfolded. Like so many people, I remember the shock, the sadness and the disbelief of watching what was happening. That moment ultimately led me into a career in #cybersecurity. I wanted to understand how organisations could protect themselves against threats that were becoming increasingly complex and, importantly, I wanted to play a part in making a difference. Recently, I had the opportunity to share my story on #IrelandAM on #Virgin Media,, talking about the moment when an incredibly difficult chapter in world history ultimately helped me find my career path. Sometimes the experiences that change us most, can also shape the work we choose to do and the difference we want to make. 25 years on, the importance of that work feels greater than ever.

I architect cloud data platforms and I explain them, and I have spent most of my career doing both at the same time.<br>I hold SnowPro Advanced Architect and AWS Solutions Architect Professional, along with certifications spanning data engineering, analytics, machine learning, security and networking across both platforms. Day to day I work with enterprise technical teams at Fortune 50 and mid-market companies on Snowflake architecture, generative AI with Cortex, retrieval-augmented generation, and the questions that surface when a complex platform meets a real production environment.<br>I build what I teach. My demonstration environments are working applications: containerized front ends that connect to live Snowflake accounts, execute SQL and Cortex calls in real time, and visualize how vector search and semantic views actually behave. Several have been adopted by our development team and turned into student labs.<br>Before Snowflake I was a Senior Solutions Architect at AlienVault, where I was the internal AWS subject matter expert across architecture and enablement. Before that I spent three years at AWS, where I authored digital curriculum that has reached more than 50,000 learners and led global curriculum programs. And for twelve years I ran my own consulting practice, owning client relationships and delivery across cloud migration, architecture and custom development.<br>One pattern has repeated across every company: they bring me in for cloud depth, and I end up finding the architecture and cost problems nobody was looking for.<br>I speak at industry and user conferences, most recently on generative AI, and I write about cloud, data and applied AI.<br>Open to conversations about cloud and data architecture, generative AI in production, and technical enablement.
