Oru'el's primary traction came in December when I met Pratyush Kumar of Sarvam at an event. "More compute without adding more GPUs, how?" he asked and we strolled off the event for 20 odd minutes. I explained to him what happens BTS, how does 'predciting' GPU failures affect this and how Foundational AI companies, and ultimately users, suffer. The sad part is, this is not something anyone could have controlled. It's really hard to predict as well. Grey failures is one of the biggest problems with GPUs and as quoted by Meta, 58% of their training run failures during Llama 3 were GPU related! Last week, Ajith and Nihith finalised the models and the architecture for our MVP. It outperforms what Bytedance did by a margin. Tho, there's no formal benchmark that exists, we would soon make one. Every SRE we have talked to told us the same 3 things : - We don't know when it would fail - We don't know why it would fail - We don't know what is the cause of failure until thorough post-mortem And since engineers don't really care about CapEx, the billions lost monthly across the world is just another headache. Oru'el's system works on pinpointing failures, telling you particular GPU about to fail, the cause of it and how much time is left to act with an actionable that they can swiftly follow. Latency? sub-milisecond. This is an SRE's dream come true. Predicting GPU failures be it for training or inference not only optimises the work flow but also calls for maintenance -- not on scheduled calendar but when you need it. This also tells you the 'health' of a GPU in real time, treating Silicon like a living being. Oru'el will be piloting soon and we have got our first prospects to work with. On this 𝟳𝟳𝘁𝗵 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗗𝗮𝘆, as we celebrate our hard-won sovereignty, I find myself reflecting on our next great frontier: 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗻𝘁𝘆. Last week, I sat down with Himanshu Shekhar on Republic TV to discuss the "soul" of India's AI journey. For those of us who have been in the Indian AI trenches for a decade, building a tech company here used to feel like trekking a mountain with no map, no paved trails, and very little oxygen. But the "oxygen" has arrived. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻 "𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗺" We are moving away from the era of "Silos", where data, compute, and trust were fragmented, into the era of "𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗺" (𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗹𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲). Through the IndiaAI Mission, we are finally seeing the infrastructure catch up to our ambition:  • 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗽𝘀: Over 7,000 structured datasets are now available to train models that actually understand Bharat.  • 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝘅𝘆𝗴𝗲𝗻: With 38,000 GPUs/TPUs allocated at world-leading subsidized rates, the barrier to compute is finally crumbling.  • 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁: We are building a 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗜 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲 (𝗨𝗔𝗜) - a protocol similar to UPI - to ensure safety, fairness, and explainability in every interaction. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 "𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻" 𝗔𝗜 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 Global models are impressive, but they don't understand our festivals, our cultural nuances, or the faces of our people. To truly serve 1.4 billion people, AI must speak our languages.  • 𝗜𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺: Imagine a personalized AI tutor that speaks to a student in their mother tongue, bridging the 1:50 teacher-student ratio in remote villages.  • 𝗢𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗺: Imagine 150 million farmers using AI agents to detect pests, monitor soil, and instantly connect to the Pradhan Mantri crop insurance scheme. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 2024 was about prompts; 2025 was about pilots; 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗥𝗢𝗜 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗼𝗽𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻-𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁. ⚡ Exciting to see our Block-Max Pruning (BMP) technique in Infinity, an open-source AI-native database designed for LLM applications! In their latest VLDB paper, “Balancing the Blend: An Experimental Analysis of Trade-offs in Hybrid Search”, Hai Jin, Yingfeng Zhang, and co-authors present a rigorous evaluation of hybrid search architectures — combining full-text, sparse, dense, and tensor retrieval.
