Andrew Rabinowitz reacted on thisSo cool seeing my dad’s passion project coming to life and thriving over the past few years! Robert Tymann Ed.D.Andrew Rabinowitz reacted on thisSouth Fork Sea Farmers (SFSF) on Earth Day released results from four years of reef monitoring in Accabonac Harbor and Three Mile Harbor. The data show that the organization’s four installed reefs are not only surviving their first East End winters but growing rapidly and, in the case of the oldest reef, beginning to reproduce on their own, the strongest evidence yet that community-built reefs can take hold as a self-sustaining tool against the nitrogen-driven algal blooms that have increasingly closed local waters. The release comes against the backdrop of what scientists have called some of the worst harmful algal bloom outbreaks ever recorded on Long Island, with more than two dozen lakes affected in 2025 and annual Alexandrium blooms forcing the seasonal closure of western Shinnecock Bay to shellfish harvesting. Scientists studying Long Island’s estuaries have repeatedly tied those blooms to nitrogen loading from aging septic systems, the same nitrogen that oysters pull out of the water column as they feed. What the 2022–2025 monitoring data show South Fork Sea Farmers has built and monitored four reefs since 2022. Each reef is tracked for survival (mortality), shell growth (spat size), rugosity (structural complexity), water quality, and natural set, the appearance of wild oyster larvae settling on the reef without hatchery seeding. The 2022–2025 results: Reef #1 (Accabonac Harbor, installed September 2022): 98.2% oyster survival at first count and 96.9% at second count, with shell growth from 3.3–3.7 cm to 3.5–4.1 cm across depth zones in the first eight weeks. In June 2024, monitors documented natural set, juvenile oysters (3.0–5.0 cm) that settled on the reef without hatchery seeding, meaning the reef has begun reproducing itself. Reef #2 (Accabonac Harbor, installed December 2023): mean spat size grew from roughly 17 mm at installation to 80.2 mm in the deep bag and 72.8 mm in the shallow bag by October 2024, a nearly five-fold increase in 44 weeks. Survival rebounded from 60.5% at the December 2024 winter count to 86.7% by October 2025, with shallow-bag spat continuing to grow to 73.7 mm. Reef #3 (Accabonac Harbor, installed July 2024): 82.1% survival at October 2024 count, with spat growing from 4.1 cm in October 2024 to 5.9 cm by October 2025, a 44% size increase year over year. Reef #4 (Three Mile Harbor Marina, installed July 2025): 85.5% survival at October 2025 count, the first reef sited at Three Mile Harbor and an early indication that the SFSF reef model transfers to a second East Hampton estuary. Across the program, every monitored reef has recorded survival rates above 80% at its most recent count, and the oldest reef has crossed the threshold that scientists consider the defining feature of a living reef, wild larvae settling on their own onto the shell. We often talk about using data, but rarely about building it well. In retail and CPG, I’ve seen how treating data as a byproduct leads to poor insights and conflicting metrics. The real shift happens when we start treating data as a product — with a clear purpose, defined users, ownership, quality standards, and a lifecycle. I’ve shared my thoughts in this article. Would love to hear how others are thinking about data productization in analytics teams. https://lnkd.in/gYyZUrzi

*** Deprecated Features Lesson *** Working with deprecated features teaches one painful lesson. Never assume a tool will stay forever. Recently many teams had to rethink pipelines after Snowflake deprecated legacy Document AI workflows. A system that worked perfectly yesterday suddenly needs redesign. Migration isn’t just about replacing APIs. It forces you to rethink: • pipeline architecture • orchestration logic • long-term maintainability Technology evolves faster than we expect. The real skill isn’t mastering one tool. It’s learning how to adapt when the tool changes. Have you ever had to redesign a system because a feature was deprecated? #DataEngineering #Snowflake #Cloud

Most people treat “segmentation” like it’s some advanced analytics thing. It’s not. It’s just common sense you can prove with data. Different people behave differently. If you average them together, you blur the truth. ⸻ Here’s a real A/B testing scenario that trips teams up: You test two checkout flows. • Version A: simple, fast, minimal info • Version B: adds trust badges, reviews, and a small upsell Results come back: • A wins overall by +6% conversion • Easy call… right? Not quite. When you break it down: • New users → strongly prefer A (they just want speed) • Returning users → prefer B (they trust you, they’re open to extras) • High spenders → really prefer B (higher order value) Now your “winner” depends on who you care about. I ran into this while building a parking marketplace, simpler checkout increased conversions for new users, but returning users spent more with a slightly more detailed flow. If you ship A to everyone, here’s what happens: • Conversion rate looks great • Average order value drops • Revenue quietly takes a hit And nobody notices because the headline metric improved ⸻ Smarter move: • Show A to new users (reduce friction) • Show B to returning or high-intent users (increase value) Same experiment. Way better outcome. ⸻ This is the part most teams skip. They find the insight, then ignore it because it complicates the rollout. So they default to one-size-fits-all. Which is exactly what segmentation is supposed to fix.

As data becomes more interconnected, traditional RAG systems often fall short in uncovering deeper relationships hidden beneath semantic similarity. In my latest article, I share insights/findings from implementing Graph RAG in a retail use case: why we moved beyond standard vector search, how multi-hop traversal changes retrieval, and what we learned when comparing both approaches at scale. If you're working with connected data, this might resonate. https://lnkd.in/g2hBp8tY #graphrag #rag #Knowledgegraph #Googlecloudspanner #genai #agenticai

Outcome-Anchored Agent Strategy If your agent initiative doesn’t have a line item on the executive scorecard, it’s already on the chopping block. MIT's systems thinking labs drilled into me that measurable business outcomes come first. In the enterprise data science teams I've led, agent projects only moved the needle when we defined each agent as an owner of a KPI, not as a proof of concept. - Translate revenue, risk, or customer metrics into agent-level objectives before writing prompts. - Surface the data signals and decision levers the agent can realistically influence. - Instrument evaluation gates so leadership can see the agent's contribution on the same dashboards as human teams. This is the first pillar of my Agentic AI course because it keeps innovation aligned with executive scorecards and makes it easier to secure ongoing sponsorship. #AgenticAI #EnterpriseAI #DataScienceLeadership #MIT #IISc
