For enterprise leaders, this guide offers a clear, strategic approach to navigating the complexity of AI investments. Will it create real business impact? ✅ Feasibility – Do you have the data, talent, and time to deliver it? ✅ Risk – Have you considered ethics, privacy, and unintended consequences? Each Dimension Is Multi-Faceted: • Value includes strategic alignment, financial return, stakeholder support. • Feasibility factors in data availability, talent, tools, timeframes. • Risk covers unintended consequences, AI ethics, security, compliance. There's a useful 1–5 scoring system. It’s simple, transparent, and creates shared understanding across exec, delivery, and domain teams. This closely matches the approach we adopt with clients including hwo we evaluate AI opportunities, such as using a value/ease/risk assessment with a size of the prize overlay.

So much transformation operates under the “move fast, break things” mindset that Silicon Valley has evangelized. I’m all for moving fast and driving change, but I think our industry would benefit from the reminder that the goal isn’t to break things - it’s to make them BETTER.

🚀 Accelerating with Microsoft Fabric: Adelaide Edition Had the pleasure of attending the "Path to Acceleration: Adopting Microsoft Fabric with Confidence" session at the Microsoft office in Adelaide, co-organised by Insight and Microsoft. The session was a fantastic blend of strategy and tech: 🔍 Why Microsoft Fabric? A unified data platform, simplified architecture, and serious scalability. 🔄 Migration Pathways from systems like Snowflake, Synapse, Databricks, and other third-party platforms. We explored Mirroring and Shortcuts—how and when to use them effectively. 🛠️ Technical Deep Dive into Notebooks, lineage across bronze, silver, and gold layers, CI/CD pipelines, and how Fabric integrates seamlessly into modern data workflows. The highlight for me? A practical showcase in VS Code that tied it all together beautifully. What stood out was the emphasis on confidence, not just in adopting Fabric, but in transforming data culture across organisations. Whether you're a data engineer, architect, or business leader, Fabric offers a compelling vision for the future of analytics. Big thanks to the teams at Insight and Microsoft for putting together such a valuable and engaging session.
