Today is an exciting day for the open source movement! The OpenInfra Foundation Board has unanimously agreed to take the next steps in joining forces with The Linux Foundation. As someone who helped create the OpenInfra Foundation (originally the OpenStack Foundation) 15 years ago, I'm thrilled about this natural evolution in open source collaboration. This move doesn't change our core operations - our board, governance model, and community-first approach remain intact. Instead, it aligns us more closely with an ecosystem our users and developers are already deeply engaged with. This decision reflects the changing landscape of open source infrastructure. Today, organizations are combining multiple open source projects like OpenStack, Kubernetes, Linux, PyTorch, and Ceph to build modern, scalable, AI-ready infrastructure. By joining the Linux Foundation, we're positioning ourselves to collaborate more effectively across these technologies and support the evolving needs of the industry. I'm excited about what lies ahead. Historically, the PTX platform has been deployed primarily in core and peering roles. However, with the significant advancements introduced by the latest-generation Express 5 chipset, PTX is increasingly being evaluated for more complex roles across the network. As bandwidth demands grow especially in Metro Aggregation and Cloud Enterprise environments, the PTX10002-36QDD emerges as a strong candidate for these evolving use cases. Did you know one of the top reasons for application performance issues is wrong QoS configurations? In a low traffic network, this might go unnoticed. But in high density traffic environments, misconfigured QoS can silently choke business critical applications, causing delays and degraded user experience. With Central, we can now proactively track queue utilization and quickly identify if majority of traffic is being pushed into a single queue before it impacts performance.
