Astha Gupta liked thisAstha Gupta liked thisSaying goodbye to McKinsey, as I step into my next chapter. 4 years ago, I got a call that changed the trajectory of my career: an offer to join McKinsey & Company after years spent building and scaling a nonprofit. Coming from that world into this one was a leap, and it turned out to be one of the richest chapters of my professional life. Over my time here, I got to sit inside the boardrooms of some of the largest Fortune 100 companies as they wrestled with what technology and AI actually meant for their business. I learned how telecom and media companies are being reshaped by the same forces. I grew more than I ever expected - as a strategist, a problem-solver and a leader. To my colleagues, mentors, and clients: thank you for everything. The lessons and friendships from this chapter will stay with me for the rest of my career. Excited for what's next - more to come soon.

Astha Gupta liked thisAstha Gupta liked thisGreat to be in San Diego last week for Walmart Marketplace’s Let’s Grow! 2026 Seller Summit, where I had the opportunity to present how delivery speed can drive conversion and growth for our sellers. Speed isn’t just about getting a package faster, it’s about creating a better customer experience and helping sellers win. What I enjoyed the most was getting to connect directly with sellers, hear about the challenges they’re facing, and talk through how we can solve real problems for their businesses. Proud of how Walmart Marketplace team is delivering results, and grateful to my incredible team that makes it happen every day. Thanks Vishal Verma, Michael Resende, Anureet Anand, Sunil Jadhav, Marc Mahoney, Awantika Jha, Joe Rice, Vipul Navale, and Adarsh Goyal! #LetsGrow2026 #WalmartMarketplace #WalmartSellers #Growth

Astha Gupta liked thisAstha Gupta liked thisExtremely grateful and humbled to receive the Young Alumni Achiever Award from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. Growing up, I didn’t even know that a place called IIT Kharagpur existed. I first heard of it when I started preparing for the IIT entrance exams. A few years later, KGP would become one of the most formative chapters of my life and a huge part of my journey and story. It gave me an education, of course, but also friendships, ambition, resilience, and the confidence to keep exploring paths that weren’t always obvious. Today, one of the most fulfilling parts of being an investor is getting to meet, support, and often back entrepreneurs coming out of KGP. Thanks for your nomination and support Devendra Mishra

Astha Gupta liked thisReally excited about the early feedback we have received from beta customers on Falcon 2 and how it's already outranking speech models from most AI frontier labs. Thanks to Saritha Rai from Bloomberg for taking the time to dig into what we're building and why it matters. 🚀 If you haven't checked out Murf Falcon 2 yet, now's a great time!Astha Gupta liked thisA Bangalore-based voice AI startup is in the crowded race to build human-sounding voices, with an AI model that scores higher vs OpenAI and ElevenLabs Murf AI's Falcon 2 text-to-speech costs $0.01/generated min; it's faster than rivals with a response time of less than 100 milliseconds https://lnkd.in/gd45Dy68 #AI Sneha Roy Ankur Edkie Divyanshu Pandey

Astha Gupta reacted on thisAstha Gupta reacted on thisAfter six incredible years, I've decided to leave Amazon. I'm grateful beyond words for this chapter. Amazon gave me experiences I couldn't have imagined, trusted me with responsibilities that helped me grow in ways I didn't know I needed, and supported me as I built my life here in the US. To everyone who mentored me, challenged me, and had my back along the way — thank you. This was a genuinely great run, and I'm leaving with nothing but respect for the people and the mission. What's next: I'm joining Noon as Product Lead, working on a Product Design tool I'm really excited about. I'd love to tell you more if you're curious — feel free to reach out. We're also hiring for roles based out of both Bangalore and San Francisco — if you've got builder energy and solid experience in JavaScript/TypeScript, let's connect and see if there's a fit. I'll be relocating to San Francisco for this role, so if you're in the Bay Area and in my network, let's catch up! Onward!

~20 months ago, we started spending time on one of the most traditional sectors in India. Manufacturing has not been a natural hunting ground for tech investors, often for good reasons. Working capital and capex heavy, long sales cycles, and most importantly: where was the technological edge? At Avataar, we like boring and unsexy. So, we dug deeper. Many sub-segments did not clear our investment filters. One did: precision engineering. Precision engineering creates critical components used in industries such as aerospace, defense, medical devices, electronics, advanced manufacturing etc.; requiring accuracy of <10 microns (a human hair is ~80 microns). However, barriers to entry are high and customers are unforgiving. But companies that get it right build durable, high margin businesses (Unimech, Azad, Aequs etc.). We also found the one major bottleneck: 5-axis CNC machines. They are what GPUs are to AI. 5 axis CNC machines are the foundational infrastructure used to build precision engineered components across consumer electronics to imaging systems to aircraft components. Building these machines is incredibly hard. It requires mastery across mechanical engineering, physics, mathematics, electrical engineering, electronics, software, and materials science. The system must deliver extreme accuracy, stability, reliability - repeatedly, in real production environments. That is why few companies globally build this tech. The result is that precision engineering manufacturers often wait ~6 months and pay $200k-$300k for a single machine. This is what Ethereal Machines solved. They built their own 5-axis CNC machines. At ~1/6th the cost of buying from outside. And because they own the IP, they can add capacity at will. Kaushik Mudda and Navin Jain have built one of India’s most ambitious deep-tech companies - from first principles, with minimal capital, and at a time when hardware was not a “thesis”. Ethereal is also pioneering Machining-as-a-Service, giving customers capacity without requiring them to own/operate/wait months for the underlying machines. It's a validation of the depth of the problem and the trust customers place in them. For us, Ethereal exactly captures our deep-tech and Physical AI thesis: boring sectors where technology is most needed, least obvious, and hardest to build. What looked like a traditional manufacturing problem was solved by tech. This is the story of two relentless engineers who didn’t know that the problem they were trying to solve was one of the hardest in the world, and decided to solve it anyway. And we could not be more excited to welcome Ethereal Machines to our family. Thank you Kaushik and Navin for allowing us to partner with you. India has abundant expertise across every domain - logistics operators, subject matter experts, local service providers, etc. What's scarce isn't capability. It's the systems that coordinate this capability at scale. Most companies see this fragmentation and default to vertical integration: build everything in-house, own all capabilities, control every aspect of delivery. This works if you have unlimited capital and time. Most companies have neither. But there's an alternative approach that we've noticed two of our portcos execute remarkably well, in completely different industries - 1. When Meesho looked at India's logistics, and they saw thousands of fragmented local operators. Instead of building warehouses and delivery fleets, they built Valmo - an orchestration platform coordinating existing partners. Individual pilots with smartphones earn sustainable incomes, small hub operators build viable businesses, and Meesho gets coverage across 15,000+ pin codes at 12% lower cost than traditional third-party-logistics. 2. Entri saw similar fragmentation in education. India has abundant teaching expertise already running offline/online programs. Entri partners with them for content while owning demand generation, platform infra, quality monitoring, and placements. This allows them to launch new categories in weeks and scale across languages without the capital intensity of building in-house teams for every vertical. If I had to pull a common thread, it's that in fragmented markets like India, the orchestration layer often matters more than asset ownership. Coordinate what exists rather than rebuilding from scratch.
