I was once in a hospital during a major citywide power outage and people were absolutely freaking out because computers were down and nurses didn’t know how they were going to record physician orders and keep track of patient needs. An elderly nurse calmly pulled people aside and said: “this is how we get through this” and she pulled a pen and pad of paper out of her pockets. She said, “we’re going to write things down.” I give a lot of presentations and always have a paper copy of it. Technology very often makes things we do easier, but we were usually doing them long before the technology was ever around.
