Codeyoung, an edtech startup has raised $5 million (Rs 44.4 Cr) in its Series A funding round, led by Blue Tokai-backer 12 Flags Group and Enzia Ventures. The round was an equal mix of primary and secondary funding, with the secondary portion allowing early investor Guild Capital to exit. The startup will use the new funds to grow in its current international markets, especially in the US and Canada. Noida-based startup DesignX has raised $2 million in a Pre-Series A funding round. Rockstud Capital led the round. Additional investors included We Founder Circle, Piper Serica, and some of DesignX’s existing clients who also participated in the round. The funds will be used to help DesignX grow its presence across India and enter international markets. Some DTC eCom brands don’t lose because their ads are “bad.” They lose because their ads look like ads. UGC isn’t a trend. It’s a trust hack. Before Reels, before TikTok, before “authenticity” became a buzzword… in 2004, Toyota dropped a Tacoma spot that looked like it was filmed by regular people - shaky, home-video style - and it hit like a punch. The story: an enraged girlfriend finally snaps because her boyfriend’s true love is his Tacoma. So she records a revenge video with her friends… and pushes his truck off a canyon cliff. The twist? The Tacoma survives - with “surprisingly disappointing results” for her plan. 😅 Here’s the part marketers should steal: Toyota didn’t rely on glossy, perfect production to sell toughness. They used a UGC-style format to make the message feel real, shareable, and instantly watchable. The ad didn’t just “go viral” in spirit - it won big in the ad world too: Cannes Lions 2004 (Film – Gold) plus other major awards. Because people don’t scroll past content that looks like it belongs in the feed. If your creative still looks like a studio commercial, you’re paying a “skip tax.” DTC question: are you still producing ads… or are you packaging proof the way people actually consume content?

How I Collect International Payments (USD, AED → INR) The world is changing and so are opportunities for freelancers and agencies. With the U.S. making H1B visas more expensive, companies are hiring remote talent abroad instead. That means a massive opportunity for Indian freelancers to work with international clients without leaving home. But there’s a catch: Landing clients is one thing. Getting paid by them is another. Over time, I’ve tested multiple ways to collect international payments. Here’s what I learned: 1. Bank Transfer (SWIFT via Kotak Mahindra) Looks professional, but it’s slow and full of hidden losses. For a $500 payment, I got ₹43,500 instead of ₹44,368 because of weak exchange rates. 2. PayPal Easy to use, but brutal on fees. 5% + $0.30 fee, plus currency conversion markup and GST. I lost 7–10% of every payment and waited 2–3 days for settlement. 3. Skydo Charges a flat $19 + GST up to $2,000. Good for large invoices, not small ones. Live FX rate is a plus, but still not ideal for frequent transfers. 4. Crypto (USDT) On paper, almost zero fees. In practice, too risky. Clients rarely understand it, and conversion to INR is a hassle. 5. XFlow This is what I use now. Flat 1% fee or $8 per transaction. True mid-market rate, no hidden charges, next-day settlement to Indian bank accounts. Clients can pay via Fedwire or ACH without signing up, and e-FIRA compliance is auto-handled.
