Human-on-the-loop is the operating model of supervised autonomy. AI systems operate within defined boundaries, while humans supervise performance, monitor thresholds, review exceptions, and intervene when risk increases. A new startup, Moonvalley, just launched Marey—a next-gen generative AI tool for filmmakers, trained entirely on ethically-sourced, fully-licensed data. It's very refreshing to witness putting creative integrity and ethical standards front and center for generative AI, and it's about time someone did this. With tools like Marey, I'm more optimistic we are moving towards a future where generative AI can be filmmaker's storytelling tool, without compromising values. Ever since I first heard about The Clause--the part of the Microsoft-OpenAI contract where the collaboration voids if OAI achieves Artificial General Intelligence--I've been fascinated with it. Now that it's under negotiation (for reasons dealing with OAI's reorganization, an opportunity MS is using to gain leverage) I dive into the deeper meaning and find that The Clause is a paradigm for how we view AI. https://lnkd.in/ekXD4wdz

This week, Gloo also updated the general Flourishing AI (FAI) Benchmark. Originally launched in July, it showed leading frontier LLMs struggled to support holistic human wellbeing across 7 key dimensions (Character, Finances, Faith, etc.). The new data is promising! It shows that models made steady gains in core reasoning, safety alignment, and pragmatic guidance. But also confirms earlier patterns -- strong in fact-based dimensions, weak in personal viewpoints and values. Essentially, LLMs handle pragmatic guidance well, but struggle with nuanced, value-aligned reasoning. Still work to be done in supporting holistic human flourishing and wellbeing. www.gloo.com/fai
