Less obvious statement: acquiring it reliably, consistently, and at scale used to fall at the feet of IT alone, but is now a leadership (and oftentimes a Board) problem. Our team has been focused on how we acquire or help our customers acquire the mission-critical data that they need via AI and agentic capabilities that deliver real value, instead of a demo that impresses once and then gets abandoned. Towards that end, I’m proud of what the team just shipped. Two AI assistants, both generally available to all customers today. Mozenda is the enterprise-grade web crawling platform that powers all of Engage3’s crawl operations and has supported countless organizations over the years in acquiring the data they need. ____ Release 1: Zenda in the Web Console. Built on Model Context Protocol (MCP) tool definitions and covering every Mozenda Web Console operation: - Configure and manage all Agents and Sequences in natural language - Create and manage collections, reorder sequence steps, set concurrent runs - Generate and manage audit scripts conversationally - Analyze and summarize account reporting to optimize your Mozenda usage - Ask what tools exist and what parameters they need, before executing anything "Add a schedule to agent 1658 to run daily starting September 15." ^ That's the whole workflow. No console navigation, API scripts, or tickets. ____ Release 2: Zenda in the JavaScript Editor. A copilot for the teams building custom logic: - Context-aware by default. - Trained on Mozenda's native functions, - Deep explainability. Particularly useful when you inherit an agent someone else built and they've moved on. Incredibly useful when your organization leverages hundreds of agents. - Refactor, comment, and insert with control. The result is that our customers spend less time operating the platform and more time using the data it produces. And the team is just getting started. Edris Bemanian posted thisTwo really important real-world signals from the Brick Meets Click June report (link in the comments) that tie to two questions that've been rising in frequency from retailers we meet with: how can retailers make confident, defensible commercial decisions about their online vs. in-store pricing strategies, from a Price Image perspective? Which of my items are crucial real-world signals influencing Price Image for my online shoppers versus my in-store shoppers, and how can this inform defensible commercial decisions? 1. Ordering: Order frequency by monthly active users (MAUs) increased to more than the 3-orders-per-month for the first time, extending the metric’s YOY growth streak to 22 consecutive months. 2. The Census Bureau’s monthly retail sales figures show that Food & Beverage store sales (NAICS 445) are decelerating while General Merchandise sales are accelerating – reflecting a broader "Flight-to-Value." At the same time, Food & Bev and Gen Merch store sales (combined) grew less than 2% YOY, while total online grocery sales jumped more than 20% over the same period according to Brick Meets Click’s ongoing tracking of eGrocery sales for 1H26 versus 1H25.

But the more interesting question isn’t whether costs are rising, it’s how those costs actually flow through to the shelf. In the latest Retail Today Executive Roundtable, our President and COO Wesley Bean shares a perspective on tariff pass-through that goes beyond the headline numbers, because pass-through is rarely linear. Retailers are making deliberate choices about where to absorb cost, where to pass it on, and where to compete more aggressively. And those choices are shaped as much by customer perception as they are by margin pressure. That’s where it gets interesting. Two retailers facing the same cost increase can take very different approaches, depending on how they manage Price Image, KVIs, and category roles. The result isn’t just different pricing outcomes. It’s different customer signals. And over time, those signals compound into trust, or erode it. As cost pressures continue to evolve, the ability to make these trade-offs deliberately, not reactively, will define how retailers protect both margin and perception. Edris Bemanian posted thisA lot of challenging things happening in the world right now. Today was a good reminder that there's still a lot to be hopeful about. "The future is bright" - a mentor's reaction to the pitches we heard, and the last thing I heard before signing off from the UC Davis Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship's National Labs Entrepreneurship Academy with the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory & Sandia National Laboratories. Meeting scientists, researchers, and entrepreneurs working on innovations from aerospace and satellites to bioengineering solutions was genuinely inspiring. Niki Peterson put together an impressive, well-coordinated event. Earlier this afternoon while on a panel for a UC Berkeley School of Information event on AI and product management, Ambika Pajjuri & Noah Levin brought sharp takes on some genuinely hard and important questions. Great facilitation by Krista Gettle & Eva Mollett (and shout out to Rachel Gabato). "If you don't feel wildly excited about what's going on, I don't think you're paying close enough attention" was a killer quote from the panel and hard to argue with. Two rooms full of people working on hard things in one day has a way of cutting through the noise. Grateful to have had the opportunity to sit on those panels and very proud to be working on hard problems alongside the Engage3 team.

We're building self-driving labs where robots run experiments around the clock and the data is fed into an agentic system that improves results with every iteration.
