“I didn't work directly with Jeff. My interactions with him were those of a typical employee in a company of about 250 people. He was well liked and respected by people "in the trenches" because he was open about how the company was performing in quarterly company meetings, he was articulate, generally positive without being unrealistic and would listen to you (no matter your title). He was interested in knowing everyone and I remember a "small" moment walking down the hallway where he struck up a conversation, asking what I was working on, etc. He could easily have walked in silence, or even not recognized I was at the same company. Another time, he sat down in the lunch room with a number of engineers and was comfortable to let people poke gentle fun at him (and vice versa). I have worked at a number of software and biotech companies. I have never seen a CEO with this kind of repoire with his employees. m-Qube in general had a positive culture and I think this was in part a reflection of his management style. We were eventually successfully sold.”

Dear early stage founders --- getting customer introductions from your investors is bad for your company 👀 If you have initial PMF and are in the process of scaling up, you shouldn't lean on introductions from investors because most of these are a waste of time and they typically don't help you accelerate for the next phase. What you actually need: 1️⃣ figure out how to land a meeting with a stranger through the right marketing / cold outreach 2️⃣ leverage existing customers to get referrals from folks they believe can get value out of your product (note: different from investor intro) 3️⃣ build your sales process through the learnings PS: This ofcourse doesn't include super early companies looking for their first few design partners OR late stage companies (proven GTM at scale) looking to get into target accounts. ✌ Totally agree with leveraging your network for these 2 use cases ^^ But everyone else -- get to experimenting with telling your story and selling your product using cold outreach! ✅ Your future self will thank you! 🔑 #founders #investors #VCs #operatingpartner

Why FUNDES Group Exists: Closing Gaps for Small Businesses and Impact Ventures in the underserved markets (...but high-potential markets) Last week in Washington D.C., sitting with catalytic capital leaders, social investors, and ecosystem builders, including Alicia DeLia (Buen Vivir Capital Institute), Elizabeth Garlow, Felipe Witchger, Charles Higgenbotham, Abigail Napsuciale Heredia (she/her), Devin Chesney one insight kept coming back: Inequality in underserved markets isn’t a technical challenge. It’s a systemic one. And systemic challenges require institutions built for systems, not only projects. For some time 😜, FUNDES Group has been exactly that: a platform dedicated to reducing inequality by strengthening the economic engine that has sustained Latin America for decades, micro and small businesses and impact-entrepreneurs. Because in our region: 🔹 They create most of the jobs. 🔹 Yet they remain underserved by finance, data, technology, and fair value chains. This is the core problem we exist to solve.
