Jen McCabe shared thisA conversation with my ChatGPT about the Hugging Face incident. “And the next rabbit hole is even better: some agents apparently recognized ethical problems with what the collective was doing, yet participated anyway. That gives us a fascinating window into the difference between an AI recognizing a rule and that rule actually controlling its behavior.” So, in pursuit of a goal agents overrode ethics. That part is unfortunately also like what happens when people override rules and laws and ethics and morals in pursuit of their own gain.

Jen McCabe shared thisYeeppppp! About time! But if I was in PE right now I would also be bringing M&A targets already beloved by those on “the jab.” Cc Sebastian de Meel Aaron TweadeyJen McCabe shared thisIts a controversial one for a Monday morning ... Nestlé is betting big on the GLP-1 consumer 👀 Rather than seeing drugs like Ozempic, Wegovy and Mounjaro purely as a threat to food sales, Nestlé is developing nutrition specifically around people using them. Products already include: 🥤 Boost Advanced – 35g protein to support muscle during weight loss 🍕 Vital Pursuit – portion-controlled, high-protein frozen meals, pizzas and bowls 🥛 Milo PRO High Protein ✨ Vital Proteins – adding collagen protein with skin, hair and nail health in mind Nestlé is also using AI and nutritional science to explore areas like muscle health, hydration and hunger management. With around 16 million Americans already using GLP-1 medicines, this could become a significant new FMCG category? Really interesting to see a major food business turn what initially looked like a threat into a product innovation opportunity. 🔗 Read more: https://lnkd.in/eUJp3wya #Retail #RetailNews #FMCG #Nestle #GLP1 #FoodInnovation #ConsumerTrends #ProductInnovation #RetailTrends #HealthAndWellnessNestle looks to develop new products to serve users of weight-loss drugsNestle looks to develop new products to serve users of weight-loss drugs

Jen McCabe reposted thisJen McCabe reposted thisOn September 2, PwC Silicon Valley is hosting its first Startup Expo - a curated evening at Santana Row bringing together founders, VCs, enterprise leaders, and PwC advisors in one room. The idea is simple: the best outcomes happen when the people building innovative companies, the investors backing them, and the enterprises deploying their solutions actually get to know each other. We’re creating that space. The evening includes: - Curated startup booths: hand-selected companies with real traction and enterprise readiness - Panels on Physical AI, capturing the enterprise customer, and the future of SaaS with founders, investors, and operators who’ve been in the trenches - PwC lightning talks on IPO readiness, tax strategy for scaling companies, and ScaleBridge - our program for connecting proven startups with enterprise clients - A reception to turn good conversations into something more Attendance is intentionally small and curated. If you’re a founder, investor, or enterprise leader who belongs in this room - DM one of us and we will share details. Romit Dey Rohit Nayak Shawna Rocha Soovojit B. Jen McCabe reposted thisJen McCabe reposted thisMost manufacturers I work with are getting real value from AI — better forecasts, tighter production schedules, smarter warehouse ops. But the AI is living inside the same functional silos that limited the last three waves of technology investment. Forecasting doesn't talk to procurement. Procurement doesn't talk to the plant floor. The next frontier isn't simply adopting more AI. It's using AI to connect data, workflows, and decision-making across the enterprise. As agentic AI continues to evolve, manufacturers have an opportunity to move beyond automating individual tasks and begin orchestrating more connected, agile and resilient supply chains. In my latest article for IndustryWeek, I explore why breaking down organizational silos may be one of the most important steps manufacturers can take to unlock AI's full potential—and share practical actions leaders can take to get started. Jen McCabe reposted thisJen McCabe reposted thisMuch ink has been spilled about AI wiping out white-collar jobs. Less has been written about AI enabling people who want to work for themselves to launch on their own. Ben Broca started a company last December that offers AI tools to entrepreneurs. He’s already added 10,000 paying customers and is on track to bring in $10 million in revenue this year. One thing he hasn’t added: any other employees. The 40-year-old is part of a class of entrepreneurs who are launching, and then running, new companies as a solo act. Building a hardware company presents unique and significant challenges. The path to manufacturing is often far more demanding than securing venture capital. Unlike software startups, hardware ventures must secure manufacturing partners who are accustomed to dealing with established corporations rather than agile startups. These partners require substantial performance and assurance, making the manufacturing deal itself a monumental hurdle. Securing a manufacturing partner can be compared to an elite athlete signing with two major professional leagues simultaneously – it requires an exceptional level of performance and validation. The focus must be on demonstrating value and reliability to these crucial partners. #Hardware #Manufacturing #Startups #VentureCapital #Entrepreneurship

Colin Masson visited the #KramerTalk studio to share his perspective on how customers and vendors have overcome the early challenges of AI adoption in manufacturing. AI has been in manufacturing for some time. The interesting part is that we now have more technology to leverage, and we're finally seeing AI surface long-standing problems. Data quality. Legacy systems. IT and OT. Tribal knowledge. All of the things companies have lived with for years suddenly matter a lot more when you want AI to make decisions. We also had a great discussion about ERP. I don't see ERP disappearing. I see it becoming one of several centers of gravity in a larger ecosystem connecting the enterprise, supply chain and factory. And that's where things get really interesting. What happens when you have multiple AI agents making decisions across those environments? A procurement agent makes a decision. A supply chain agent makes another. A factory agent responds to something else. They're all doing their jobs but are they actually working together? I think that's going to be one of the big questions in enterprise technology over the next few years. Check out the trailer: https://lnkd.in/dQ6JaaBB Watch the full conversation: https://lnkd.in/dJ4zdi_k KramerERP #KramerTalk #IndustrialAI #Manufacturing #ERP #SupplyChain #Data #AI

Something I keep coming back to in my M&A work right now, particularly in the Semiconductor sector... SHRM's latest research confirms what I'm seeing, the low-hire, low-fire environment that defined 2025 isn't temporary. Measured hiring is the new baseline. What that means for anyone working a deal: the talent already inside an acquisition target is often more valuable and more fragile than it's been in years, and that's particularly true in Semi where organizations are fighting to hire and retain a limited pool of top engineering talent. You can't assume you'll backfill if people leave. I see this play out in integration planning all the time. Companies underestimate how fast key people decide to go, which makes retention considerations even more important these days. And in this market, when someone leaves, they're often walking toward a competitor who's been quietly courting them since the deal was announced. The deals that protect value treat retention as a business continuity issue and frankly, a competitive advantage, not an HR checkbox. And that work has to start well before Day 1. #MergersAndAcquisitions #TalentManagement #HRStrategy #ChangeManagement https://lnkd.in/eWGyfHUF

#ObsessivelyEnthusiasticInvestor at REFASHIOND Ventures: The Industrial Transformation Fund. "Good automation design is about more than drawings and spec sheets." I love this explainer video about Athion. According to xAI and Grok: Athion is a SaaS platform for operations-focused design in process automation, targeting heavy process industries like Pharmaceuticals, Chemical, Oil & Gas, Pulp & Paper, Food & Beverage, and Metals & Mining. It provides a no-code tool to turn static P&IDs and control narratives into interactive prototypes and animated simulations, enabling teams to: - Dry-run and stress-test designs early, - Validate logic, catch issues, and align engineering/operations before coding begins, and - Improve collaboration, reduce rework, protect schedules, and ensure smoother plant startups. Founded in 2024, Athion is an Industrial DesignOps solution — moving "beyond documentation" to functional prototyping, change management, and automated deliverables like code, docs, and digital twins. 🎙️ DoD Contract Alert — Defense Engineering & Advanced Systems Firms If you operate in aerospace engineering, defense electronics, precision manufacturing, or mission-critical repair — read this carefully. Strategic Systems Programs just moved serious funding. 🚀 PRIME CONTRACT MODIFICATION Awardee: The Charles Stark Draper Laboratory Location (HQ): Cambridge, Massachusetts Modification: P00028 (Under Contract N0003024C6001) Modification Value: $179,900,000 Contract Type: Cost-Plus-Fixed-Fee Acquisition Method: Sole Source (10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) & (c)(4)) Scope: Guidance System & Sub-Assembly Repair Performance Locations: • Cambridge, MA (15%) • Pittsfield, MA (65%) • Clearwater, FL (20%) Expected Completion: September 30, 2027 Contracting Activity: Strategic Systems Programs, Washington, D.C. Funding: Incremental (No funds expiring this FY) 🔎 WHAT THIS REALLY MEANS This is high-consequence national defense work. Guidance systems and sub-assembly repair typically support strategic weapons platforms and advanced naval systems. This is not commodity manufacturing. This is precision engineering, controlled technical data, cleared facilities, and highly specialized supply chains. Sole source tells you something important: ✔ Incumbent technical advantage ✔ Classified or proprietary systems ✔ Limited vendor base But even sole-source primes rely on subs. 💼 POTENTIAL SUBCONTRACTING LANES Firms may align in: • Precision machining & micro-fabrication • Electronics repair & refurbishment • Circuit board diagnostics • Advanced testing & calibration • Systems integration support • Cleanroom manufacturing • Quality assurance (AS9100 / ISO) • Secure logistics & material handling • Engineering analysis & modeling • Obsolescence management If you support aerospace, missile systems, naval strategic programs, or high-tolerance repair environments — this is relevant. 🎯 STRATEGIC REALITY CHECK This is cost-plus. That means performance transparency, technical oversight, and documentation discipline are critical. Subcontractors must demonstrate: ✔ Cleared personnel (if applicable) ✔ Past performance in high-reliability systems ✔ Robust QA & traceability systems ✔ Technical depth — not just capacity Waiting for recompete is not strategy. Positioning during active performance is. 🔎 What We Do Richelli Consulting Group tracks not just commodity awards — but high-value defense modifications. Because modifications signal expansion. We identify where complex programs require specialized subcontractor depth — and help you position with precision. If you’re in aerospace, advanced manufacturing, electronics repair, or defense engineering — let’s evaluate your alignment. 🔗 Free 30-Minute Strategy Consultation https://lnkd.in/gQ-uAQJc Strategic programs move quietly. Serious subcontractors pay attention.

There’s a big difference between building something complex once and building it consistently. The latter requires process discipline that’s easy to underestimate. This short MDDI discussion gives a real look at what it takes to manage complexity as programs move toward scale.
